Can't believe there's someone on Fox who is telling it like it is.

The American Dream is dying for many middle class Americans because many middle class Americans aren't willing to put forth the minimum amount of effort to achieve it. 50 years ago, all you needed was two arms, two legs and some determination to work your shift at a manufacturing plant or on a farm. Now, many of those menial labor jobs are gone or so undesirable that people don't want them and folks have to go to school and use their brains and some people are finding they are not equipped to do so.

I do agree with him that women are now at a point in our nation where their primary purpose is no longer to marry someone and produce children and as a nation we are better off for it. Maybe if more women marry less unemployable people and wait to marry someone who can help provide a stable, reliable household, the divorce rate and rates of spousal abuse and child abuse will also drop.

Tucker is the king of putting facts next to each other and drawing failed conclusions and absurd leaps of logic from them. He's a well spoken Illy.

Tucker may be stating facts....but they're pointless facts.

I agree that we are NOT better off as a nation having less married households.

I agree that we are NOT better off as a nation having less mothers (or fathers) stay home and raise children....but we ARE better off that women can choose to do whatever they want and don't HAVE to stay home and raise kids if they don't want to. It's not for everyone. It's hard.

The whole pay thing may be correct, but it's pretty irrelevant. It's just reality for some.

You sound like such a douche bag when you talk about people/jobs you know nothing about in that manner.

You've said you work at a bank....well I'm in the banking industry also (real estate appraisals), and unless you're a big time lender or upper level executive, then my guess is there are a lot of "manual labor" type jobs where people make more money than you....so I'd be careful about turning your nose up at people because you think you're more intelligent than them because someone told you that a college degree makes you better/smarter than people who don't have a degree.

I know some filthy rich farmers... I know some filthy rich builders/contractors... electricians. Etc....not everyone who does jobs that don't require a college degree is unable to use their brain.

I don't think the filthy rich farmers or filthy rich anyone are the people being discussed when the topic is the shrinking of the middle class.

Like I said, taking statements and facts and failing horribly to draw conclusions from them is a consistent trait. Your bias and assumptions about what you think people might mean are preventing your brain from working.

If you took 5 seconds and thought about the actual topic people were talking about before you hit "reply" it would save you a lot of unnecessary arguments.

I don't think that the rise in divorce rate is an accurate representation of lack of marital bliss. The reason divorce rate is higher now that it has been (say, 50 years ago) is because it has become more socially acceptable and women have a way to support themselves better these days, without having to rely on a man to provide that support (from 50 years ago).

Which leads to the rates of spousal/child abuse. I seriously doubt that spousal abuse is any more prevalent now than it was, say, 50-60 years ago. It is certainly more in the open, perhaps based on the reason I stated above - women had little recourse. I will just point to fact that in the age of b-w television spousal abuse was a prominent laugh line in an extremely popular sitcom ("To the moon"; "Right in the kisser") - to be fair, Alice always got him back, but the fact that it was OK to even put that in public demonstrates how "acceptable" such behavior was.

Can we throw "conversing with hashtags outside of the application the hastag was designed for" out there as the most annoying trend?

Well as it turns out, my hope is already in full effect. Divorce rates have plummeted in younger generations now that more people are choosing to finish their eduvations and get their careers kick started prior to getting married.

And I would assume that folks are less likely to marry a dud, bum or jerk at that point in their lives than if they married whoever they were in a relationship with in their late teens/early 20s. People tend to be pickier when they have tangible things at risk of a bad decision.

Divorce rates seem to be at their lowest point in decades.

That's an absolutely moronic interpretation of what has happened to marriage.

But that's no shock.

So pray tell, oh wise one, what has happened to marriage?

That is a common problem with American women.
