Symptoms are caused by increased immune response not seen in the asymptomatic.
Does this imply that asymptomatic people have a more robust infection, more lasting damage, etc.?

That's unclear from this paper. That they wrre shedding virus for longer would suggest that a more robust infection is possible but there was no difference in viral load based on pcr.

It doesn't say anything about duration just that a lot of the asymptomatic patients had lung abnormalities.

Any of you yung’unz encounter a guy named Jabraan Pasha while at KU? Apparently he got his BS in Biology in 2006, and then MD at KU Med. He’s now an Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean at OU School of Medicine in Tulsa.

He was on Brian Williams’ program on MSNBC talking about the public health risks to Tulsa as a result of the Trump rally. But what struck me first was a big poster of the inside AFH in his office and a prominent “KU” plaque. (That’s why I looked up his LinkedIn profile)

Of course you all can guess what he said, explaining the science and health impact but y’all knew that already.

What does this mean for vaccine effectiveness? If immunity only lasts 3 ish months, as seems to be suggestes by the paper, are we looking at 4 vaccine doses a year?

Nothing definitive, but it's not a good sign. Maybe frequent boosters would work, but you might get immunity even with very low antibody levels.

Geezer - Nope. Not unless I get one the night before and eat it room temperature. They won't let us use the refrigerator/s or microwave/s in the office.
This is the same company that took out a full page ad in the NYT yesterday for a really good reason but if I wanted to be cynical I would say - perhaps don't "oppress" your employees unnecessarily.

TDub & ousy - I've noticed it seems 75%+ of the time someone who ridicules what someone else is wearing/uses, is worthy of ridicule (for what they are wearing/using) themself.
Even more so than the person they are ridiculing.

We had this battle before - I was pro cargo shorts.
Cargo shorts are awesome, they are comfortable, they may have more pockets then you need ( in a perfect world, i'd like to have three pockets - keys, wallet, phone ) but who cares.
If i'm doing yard work or camping - cargo shorts are a must.

NOW would you wear them to most dining places? Probably not.

I'd wear them to a spot where you pick up your food and eat it at a picnic bench outside or a place like Olive Garden because your family shouldn't judge.

I wear cargo shorts all the time, especially just around the house, because yes, they are comfortable and loose fitting. If I go out, I usually wear flat front shorts and I buy those that are looser fitting as well. I hate it when you see some dude in really tight flat front shorts with his giant Samsung phone in the front pocket...now that looks stoopid.

Just a wave of clothing designers decided that short and tight colorful pink, salmon and UNC blue shorts with tiny back pockets would be the next look ( yacht club look ).

Sorry - get off my lawn with those ridiculous salmon colored shorts.
