I saw Apple getting heat for disabling airdrop at protests to try and make it harder for protesters to communicate with one another, but maybe that belongs in the tech thread.

-Continued prohibitive lockdowns
- still building massive "quarantine camps"
- spraying down the streets with disinfectant by workers and drones now
- literally locking whole buildings of people inside their homes because of one reported exposure event.

Basically a test run for what they want for the whole world. Fortunately, it won't happen here.

I doubt it’s Apple. The Chinese government has the ability to turn apps off (or maybe forces phone companies). When I last visited China in early 2019 Google Translate was inactivated on my phone. Apparently there is some government sanctioned app for translation. Anyway most locals were only too glad to let me use their phone for translation.

Today's edition of this is the country I live in.....

Waiting for the elevator to go up to my apartment. Dude in front of me holding a plastic Walgreens bag that I can see contains two BinaxNOW testing kits and a bottle of orange juice.
Guy isn't wearing a mask. I ask him if he's sick. He looks at me and doesn't respond. I back away from him. Elevator door opens and he expects me to follow in after him. I tell him I may be stupid but I'm not dumb enough to get in the elevator with him. Basically didn't phase him and he raised his eyebrows - like he was rolling his eyes at me.

I can't expect people to appease me but is it wrong for me to expect someone to have the common sense and decency to comprehend I don't want them getting me sick - Covid, Flu, RSV, whatever?

Did you wear a mask while you were around him? Or at minimum put one on once you noticed he was "sick as a dog"?

When you say client does that mean you are performing a service for him? If so, and the answers to my questions above were no, then you probably shouldn't say anything. Who needs who more in this scenario?

I don’t think provider-client relationship is a question of who-needs-who-more. If I’m susceptible to respiratory stress then I’m perfectly justified in refusing service to someone who puts my health at risk. It’s a good idea to wear a KN-95 mask outside your house these days, regardless of what the mandates are.

Yea, if it’s between my health and a client, I’d rather have my health.

One’s health, and one’s career and livelihood, shouldn’t have to depend so heavily on one client.

This shouldn’t be controversial.

But yea. Since it is, guess imma start masking up again, even tho I’m not the asshole with symptoms.

So the client is doing the work? Or you are doing the work?

I'm confused by this edition of storytime.

Either way, I'd feel more sympathy for you (which was the reason for the story in the first place) if I thought you wore a mask in an effort to protect yourself instead of just complaining. But, since you bragged about being the only maskless people in one place or another during the pandemic, I am assuming you didn't suddenly start masking up.

I guess the only reason I asked was hoping maybe we could collectively learn to just stay home if we’re sick, both as a courtesy to our fellow humans and ourselves, especially for nonessential stuff. But never mind.
