Nein, NEIN.......

While the good part of me wants to feel sorry for the loss of a life, any life, a different part of me is taking the “well, duh, it’s not like there wasn’t warning you” approach.

I somehow feel that the sociopaths who were ostensibly responsible for this death (and others) are going to suddenly change their mind. And that’s the saddest part of Mr Cain’s passing

Agree with all of that. But I was also browsing his Twitter feed, which up to this morning was tweeting white supremacist things, and up until yesterday anti-science COVID things. So I mean, you play the game and won the prize you were looking for.

Mask ordinances have to be good for people who track their steps. I am frequently walking part way across parking lots to where I'm going only to realize I forgot my mask in the car then going back to get it.

i guess?

seems like borderline fear mongering. we know covid is a real and legit threat. has such a thing like she alludes to actually happened? if not, she sure has given the sick fucks of this world a good idea

Borderline fear mongering? It's straight Pizzagate level fear mongering.

The kid has hands. He would take the packing tape off. And it's packing tape, it's hardly going to stick to a mouth.

She is aware that a child can still make verbal noises with some tape on their mouth, right? If they were going to be brave enough to speak up that they were in trouble without tape on their mouth then they would be brave enough to make some noise with tape on their mouth.

Fucking morons.

Yeah, that’s such an extreme example that I’m not sure the risk of that can really be weighed against the risk of, you know, spreading a goddamn pandemic.

Man, a mask turns out to be a brilliant way to hide that I tape my kids' word-holes shut.

As someone who literally had his fifth grade teacher tie him to the chair during class with a jump rope, I'm glad my parents didn't have a way to shut my (undiagnosed, only assumed) ADHD mouth up as a child.

Isn't that the same newspaper that has ended using the phrase "student-athletes"?

Good going on all fronts, kids.

Several Security people in my building at various times. I get along with all of them. Some more than others. One woman in particular is very friendly, warm, kind, etc. EXCEPT when it comes to policing the rooftop. We have many "rules/requirements". No glass bottles, glass containers, glasses. No smoking. No pets. Right now no guests.
Masks must be worn at all times - except if you are eating or drinking. No one wants to wear a mask so most people bring something to eat or drink with them. Even if they don't want to eat or drink.
Yesterday I picked up late lunch / early dinner and was eating up on the rooftop.
When I was done, I did not put my mask on. There was no one up there that was closer than 100 feet away from me. Sure enough, Ms. Security person sneaks up (from where - I don't know) and snaps at me to put on my mask. I explained to her that I am eating (even though I was done) and she said, "You ain't eating now - put on your mask or get off the deck". I smiled and she said, "I ain't playing".
I smiled again and put on the mask. I told her I felt it was ridiculous that I need to wear a mask when I am not within 100 feet of anyone but that I respected her and would follow the rule/s.

So..... 10 minutes ago I decided to go down and speak with "management" and ask why people are allowed to congregate and eat next to each other without wearing masks but if I am up on the rooftop BY MYSELF, what is the need for me to wear the mask. She responded it's a city requirement. I don't believe that to be true being that it's OUTSIDE but I really have no choice but to respect that - if it is true.
What I didn't respect was when she then said to me, "If you don't like the rules you don't have to go on the "sky deck" and you don't have to live in the building". I said, "Excuse me, I have lived here for probably close to half of your life, I have always lived by the rules, accepted them, and have been pretty much a perfect tenant".
Guess what, while she and I were having the "conversation" I was wearing a mask as I am REQUIRED to do while in a "common area" INSIDE the building. She was NOT wearing a mask as she is REQUIRED to do while in a "common area". I was probably an asshole for doing it but I called her out on it.
She told me I was in HER office (which is a "common area" in which both the rental and management people work - and tenants and prospective tenants go in to - through an UNLOCKED glass door), she said she can do as she pleases in HER office, and that I shouldn't have come in uninvited.
I laughed and said, "I waved to you and you signaled for me to come in and talk to you".
I was about to go off on her and then thought better of it. I just walked away without saying another word.
Moral of the story - Masks suck, rules/requirements when arbitrarily enforced suck, the coronavirus sucks, and people suck. Myself and her included.

My third grade teacher put a masking tape loop through the back of my desk chair and through the belt loop of my jeans and told me if the tape was torn when she got back from going to the office to pick up her copies that I would be sent to the Principal's office. To put it mildly, I had a hard time sitting still back then.
