KU 2021-22 Scenarios

Post by pdub »

Realistic dream scenario:

Kansas starts the season 9-1 including a strong opening win v Michigan State and a blowout of MIZZOU.
Remy, Ochai and DMac take the Big 12 by storm, going 16-2, with all 3 preseason 1st teamers landing on the final 1st team -- but with Ochai Agbaji surprisingly winning the POY.

The Jayhawks have two nail biters to open the NCAA tournament but then find their ground, beating Duke in the Elite Eight behind a 30 point DMac night, and avenging one of their B12 losses in the NCAA Final v Texas.

Realistic I'll take it scenario:

KU goes 8-2 in non con, dropping to St John's and Colorado. They struggle a bit out of the gate, starting 1-2 in B12 play, but end up clenching the league at 13-5 on senior night v Texas.

They end up loosing in the B12 tournament and Texas wins giving them the highest 2 seed, but getting sent to Philly, where Nova has the 1. Sparko is justified in the E8 game v Nova when DMac picks up 2 phantom fouls in the first 4 minutes, and KU looses by 3.

Fanboy sniffing glue in the parking lot scenario:

KU steamrolls the entire season, going undefeated, with our only single digit victory a 9 point win in Austin, plus a 109-39 curb stomping of mizzou so embarrassing they announce they never wanna play us again. All 5 starters are all-Americans, yes illy even Braun, plus Dajuan and Yes make second team. The NCAA tournament is seen as little more than a formality as the Jayhawks cruise their way to another championship in a series of blowouts. The entire roster goes first round, even the walkons, and the ncaa drops their kangaroo court case on the condition Self joins hair club for men.

So far, on pace to maybe best my 'realistic' guess.
Could end up a 1 in the East with a 2 Nova.
Or a 2/3 in the East.

Almost no chance we drop to the 3 line.

I highly, highly doubt it. Even in that scenario we are picking up 1-2 Tier 1 wins.

Right. I'm pretty sure that the formal mandate for the committee right now is to focus on wins, not losses.

2-4 on neutral or road floors against teams currently in the tournament isn't great tho

Tier 1 records for the current projected 2-3 seeds.
Duke 5-1
Kansas 9-5
Wisconsin 8-3
Kentucky 7-6
Villanova 7-6
Purdue 7-5
Texas Tech 6-7
Providence 5-3

Kansas is in the top 4 of those 8 teams listed, and it's really not that close. They're going to be a 2 seed. Just hope you match up with Auburn or Baylor as your 1 seed for best chance to get out of bracket.

Speaking of scenarios, how many more games is this team going to play this season? TODAY (3/3/22) assuming nothing unforeseen happens, we are guaranteed at least 4.

That would work!
Between the last two games of the season and the Big 12 Tournament could/would be 1 win.
NCAA Tournament would be 6 wins.

Yea.

7 sounds right.

We play tonight, 2021 baylor our way out of senior night and the conference tourney, then win the next 6 looking healthy and rested.

That doesn't add up if it's games played.
That would be 2 games + 1 game + 6 games.

I think we ( knock on wood ) win the next two, win a game in the B12 tourney and drop the semi, win two in the NCAA tourney.

The NCAA will match us up with the very worst 4/5 would could ever imagine.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

It'll be UCLA 4 and Tennessee 5 or some bullshit.
