This roster seems better equipped.

At the very least, we might actually have a bench this year!

it seems our reserves are already further along than guys like Tristan and Latrell and Gethro and TGIF
I like that our bench can offer a change-up too. Last year you had Enaruna, who was just a poor man's version of Wilson, Braun, or Och. Freshman Harris, who had the same strengths and weaknesses as MG. And Mitch, who while he's different than McCormack, is just objectively not as good.

All depth aside, we have no fewer than 4 ball-skilled guards, and “small” guards for what thats worth

For last year we mostly only had one ball-skilled guard, and he was a nontraditional bigger guard, who wasn’t the best at getting to the paint. Yeah we had a young Dajuan, but his minutes were all over the place

Plus the wings and bigs have yet another year of experience

I don't think size has anything to do with it, but speed does, ball handling does, and scoring/shooting do, and we've either improved or gotten more guys to do those things.

I think we needed to really address 3 things:
Speed/Athleticism
Shooting
Handling opponents who have length

I think we addressed the first two, either with added personnel or player development.

I'm still worried about 3, so I hope CnB is right, and that there aren't a lot of teams who play big, so maybe we can avoid them, but damn does Gonzaga look like a bad matchup for us.

roiboi-8

I doubt our guys took loosing to them lightly last year.

Bring em on. Nomesayin.

Especially considering we’re likely to be the first ranked team they will have played in like 4 months

Probably won't see Gonzaga at all, but if we do, it will be in the Natty game.

I'm ok with Jalen guarding Chet (and breaking that b**** in half!).

We do not want Gonzaga anytime before the NC. I still have nightmares of Timme just destroying Dave last year.

I’d love to see USC in our bracket again too.

Do you get 2 national titles if you beat really good teams along the way? If no, then I'd like nothing but cushy teams and easy match ups please. I am too old to get any sort of thrill from social media bragging rights. I just want to take my kids to a parade down Mass Street.

2011 I bought a ticket back to KS for the final four on Mass St

I bought the tickets cuz our remaining path to the final four was a cushy easy 12 seed and an 11 seed.

How’d that work out?

As well as our 2021 loss to #6 seeded USC and their multiple 7 footers instead of #11 seeded Drake?

Or as well as our 2019 loss to the hot shooting #5 seed Auburn instead of the #12 seeded New Mexico State?
Or as well as our 2018 loss to hot shooting #1 seed Nova instead of offensively challenged #3 see Texas Tech?
Or as well as our 2017 loss to a #3 seeded Oregon team with 3 players currently on NBA rosters plus 2 others who played in the NBA instead of #7 seed Michigan?

Or........

Yup. Which is exactly why they aren't here anymore.

Pettiford and Clemence are 2 very pleasant surprises.

Upgrades all. I will say, if we face a ninth-seeded Gonzaga in Weekend one, it would figure.

I don’t see Clemence as a surprise. Pettiford, sure.

Crazy thing is I still think Cuffe could end up the best.

Pettiford has been a huge surprise to me. I figured he'd be a solid player eventually. But thought he would he way behind yesefu at this point. This team is really deep at pettifords position. The fact he's getting minutes is crazy

Out of yesefu Pettiford remy and dajuan, I think dajuan is easily the least talented. Hes also the best role player. Unselfish guy that self loves thats locked in defensively and knows his role. Will be interesting how those minutes play out
