Remy “heater” may be a little generous, but he absolutely was the dynamic guard that is so critical in the tournament.

Without him, we prob loose second round to Creighton. Think about that. We were struggling, but Remy just went out and made shit happen.

And credit Dajuan for being part of the comeback early 2nd half in the natty. But credit Remy for making some ridiculous shots as the closer.

Watching the tournament it seems like teams that advance (haven't actually checked the numbers) have more than one good 3 point shooter. The game is going that way and this year's team just wasn't consistent from 3.
Yea.

With Big Ern/Zuby/KJ up front, and Dajuan as pg, let’s just fill 2-5 in between with as many shooters as we can.

With Bobby and Joe in the portal, who’s backup pg? Elmarko? Do we hit the portal for that too? And/or take a flyer on some last minute recruit?

I have high hopes for Elmarko.

For one thing, his name Is Elmarko.

That’s Español for, The Marko.

Not just any old Marko.

pdub wrote: Thu Mar 23, 2023 7:05 pm Also Russ Rob wasn’t much better than Dajuan.

Gtfo with this RussRob legend business.
Did RussRob ever win B12 DPOY?

Harris in his junior year had more PPG, more APG, more SPG at a better FG percentage than senior RussRob.

And I’d argue RussRobs FG percentages and assists were bolstered because of the stacked squad around him. Easier to get buckets next to Rush, Chalmers and Shady.
Yup. On your last post too.

Just complete revisionist history.

Russ was a better shooter, plus like 20 pounds of muscle

Dajuan may be a better pure pg tho.

Both were like Jack Black and KG about that D

LOL. I have high hopes for Elmarko too. I've also got a gut feeling the portal will bring something good.

He might be our starting 2 guard at the moment

As of now he is.
Not sure who else it could be.
I mean, I would guess it ends up being a transfer.

Hard to say. We've never seen elmarko, chris Johnson, or jamari McDowell. Theres no guarantee elmarko is the best of the 3. Kyle cuffe is still here, he might surprise people next year.

I'm betting a transfer too tho

We were 6th in Kenpom going into the NCAA tourney. I don’t consider his B12 tournament very heater.

Two guys went first round NBA draft.
One was a 1st team AA.
That’s pretty good.

We finished 3rd in Kenpom.
I didn’t say the team wasn’t great, just that the roster wasn’t great (by our standards).

By our standards, Dave should have been our second best big.

By our standards, Dejuan should have been a backup.

By our standards, Lightfoot, Yesufu, Coleman-Lands and Pettiford should have been mop-up guys only.

That’s all consistent with last year’s team being fairly middling, for Bill’s time here. It’s a testament to Bill, and to the guys, that they won the damn title.

I could see Cuffe starting day 1 next year, cuz he’s been here 3 years and coach wants to make The Marko earn it.

more qualitatively, I just remember Russ’s 3s being more an actual part of a balanced offense, and not ever feeling like some kinda anomaly.

Realistically, I can think of only 2 times we had a better center than senior dave. Cole Aldrich and azuibuike

Wut.

If you really want to limit only to “Centers”, then add Withey and Embiid.

But it’s probably more meaningful to say #1 big. In which case…add Simien, Markieff, Perry, Dedric.

Hmmm freshman embiid was rawwww and didn't even play in the ncaa tournament. So no

Withey i considered, he was better on defense. Withey couldn't go get you a bucket very consistently tho. Idk

Once again, Dave underrated here ( and generally ).

Go back and watch all the times the guy was doubled.
