Not sure he puts up the numbers to get it. But if there's a better pure point/floor general in college someone inform me

Could he put up 14 PPG?
I think he could.

He could. I think he's more likely to average 7/8 assists than 14 points tho. And it's hard to do both. Especially on a loaded preseason #1 team

Dickinson, kj, mccullar and dajuan aren't all going to average 14. You could argue dajuan might be our 4th leading scorer out of that group

Then there are x factors like Timberlake and elmarko. Who will probably be productive scorers but to a smaller degree than that core 4

My pointless guess is dajuan averages around 10.5 and 7. Which are great numbers. And has a much bigger impact than the numbers show

Dajuan is probably the best true point guard in the country. If KU dominates the big 12 those numbers probably get him 1st team

But there will be a few guards on other teams with high usage rates that put up bigger numbers

That’s reasonable.
I’d say a good under/over is that 10.5 and I’ll go over.

if Dajuan averaged 14ppg that'd be rad.

I might be more inclined to believe it if the coach talk lately was "man Dajuan sure did turn a corner," but thus far, I think I've heard Self say that more about KJ and Kevin.

(not that I mean to suggest Dajuan WON'T be good, and a key piece this year)

This feels like another one of those seasons in which we have 3-4+ guys in like that 13ish ppg range.

KJ and Kevin were both around 10 last year, so a 3 point bump in a bigger role seems possible.

Dajuan was at 8.9, so he's not far off either, even if he's never otherwise looked like much of a natural scorer. But he might be more effective if his stats jump comes more to a boost to his 6 dimes a game, which would also correlate to KJ and Kevin's scoring bumps.

Hunter will prob be somewhere below his 18 and 9 from last year, with the increased competition he'll face at KU, plus maybe a more balanced system/schemes? (I dunno much about last year's Michigan team), plus I'm still kinda concerned he might get benched for long stretches/certian matchups if he can't guard small ball lineups, like Self would do with Withey.

(it's so paradoxical, you'd think an enormous dood would have the advantage against a bunch of runts, but alas)

Dajuan needs to get to the basket more.
It’s not a strength but he can do it.
I bet he doubles his free throw attempts, takes two more shots a game and ends up around 12 PPG.

He's not bad at it.
But he needs to be more accurate with his floaters and layups.

As a veteran hopefully he's gained skill and confidence so the aggression will follow. Because up till now, it feels like Dajuan only took it to the basket after he'd checked another possibility or two off the list, first.

Which was to be expected considering he was nearly always amongst other KU players that were much more natural scorers than him.

12 is what i’m thinking as well, with a half dozen dimes to boot

Two decades into his career as the head basketball coach at the University of Kansas, Bill Self has had an opportunity to coach a number of elite-level players, including several lottery picks.

However, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer believes that Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson may be among the best of the bunch, telling ESPN's Myron Medcalf that the seven-footer is "the best offensive big man I've ever had."

Fwiw, a fairly well known now retired coach has attended KU practices.
Said to someone I know well that he feels Dickinson may be the best 3 point shooter on the team.
I have my doubts but it's true, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I would think bad. Right?

I find it a little hard to believe he's better on 3's than Timberlake.

My guess is the former coach caught Dickinson on a good day/s and other players on an off day/s.

Or clemence.

This roster doesn't have very many good 3 point shooters.

Jamari is supposedly a decent shooter too?
