USA Today has KU as a 3. In the Illinois region. Va Tech as the 6 and Drake as the 11. Bama as the 2.
Would take.

Time out! Easy to say TODAY Illinois may be a 1 seed.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 9:31 am USA Today has KU as a 3. In the Illinois region. Va Tech as the 6 and Drake as the 11. Bama as the 2.

Let me know what they are after they lose their next two games - to Michigan on the road and Ohio State on the road - and then don't win the Big 10 Tournament.
Fuck Illinois!
Re: Bracketology 2020-21
One thing that should come into play, is the S-curve.
With no geographical considerations, they should follow the S-curve all the way down.
The reason that matters, is that, for example, being the top 3 seed (9th place) as opposed to being the last 3 seed (12th place) should matter more than in other years. I would assume that would mean if you're the top 3 seed, you get paired with the worst 2 seed (8th, rather than 5th for the last 3 seed) and you get the worst 4 seed to (16th team overall, rather than 13th).
I'd say right now we're probabaly a low 3 seed (11th or 12th overall). But could jump up to the 8th, 9th, 10th range.

Agreed. I think they are according, to many, a low 3 or a high 4. Borderline. With 2 wins in KC, they will be a low 2 or a high 3.

And with three wins in KC, one of them being Baylor, they've got an outside shot at a 1.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:38 am Agreed. I think they are according, to many, a low 3 or a high 4. Borderline. With 2 wins in KC, they will be a low 2 or a high 3.

I have read that geography will be disregarded, but they will still try to avoid conference rematches in the first two (?) rounds.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:22 am One thing that should come into play, is the S-curve.

Who was it a few years back that got a 1 or a 2 with 10 losses? Was it UNC?jfish26 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:40 amAnd with three wins in KC, one of them being Baylor, they've got an outside shot at a 1.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:38 am Agreed. This year it really shouldn't matter; all schedules are not created remotely equal even in terms of number of games played.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:51 amWho was it a few years back that got a 1 or a 2 with 10 losses? If we pick up three Q1 wins next week, including another over Baylor, I cannot imagine there are four teams with better wins.
And, in that scenario, every one of our eight losses even will be Q1!
Re: Bracketology 2020-21
Right, and it definitely felt like that had been the direction the selection committee had been going the past several years anyway.
Much more about "who'd you play and who'd you beat" than about just taking care of business...which I think mattered more in the past.

i think it’s more conference love than iowaNewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 9:25 am I mean, it's pretty obvious should be a 3 right now. If they had to split this week, this was the way to do it.
Don't get the Iowa love. They're good, but similar records and worse loss, don't think they are 2 spots better than KU.
Re: Bracketology 2020-21
More should be given to Michigan and Illinois then.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 11:16 ami think it’s more conference love than iowaNewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 9:25 am I mean, it's pretty obvious should be a 3 right now. If they had to split this week, this was the way to do it.

I think people were big on tOSU and Iowa beat them twice. But maybe we need to re-evaluate tOSU since they've lost 3 in a row.

Re: Bracketology 2020-21
Yes. They were an "at large" 2 seed in the West and lost to 7 seed Texas A&M.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:51 amWho was it a few years back that got a 1 or a 2 with 10 losses? The 1 seed (Xavier) also lost their 2nd game (to FSU).
That was when 9 seed KSU played 11 seed Loyola in the Elite Eight.
On another note, I'm leery when people say things such as "the weakest" 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 seed.
On "paper" a team may appear to be the weakest (or the strongest) but it's not something that can be proven and/or factual - as far as I am concerned.
Re: Bracketology 2020-21
Nor am I but I still feel they have at least 3 if not 4 teams that have a decent shot at winning the NC.

Re: Bracketology 2020-21
I don't disagree.
Meanwhile, I can't figure out this season - at all.
As I said yesterday, a team like MSU may not make the tourney and they have proven they could beat more than one top 5 team.
Not too sure how many other teams that will make the tournament can lay that claim.

ESPN
Kansas as a 3
Eastern Washington first matchup. Tennessee and VCU 6/11.
Iowa as the 2 and Gonzaga as the 1.
Not ideal.

Kansas wins at least their next 3 games, they are a 2 seed.
Kansas wins next 2 games, they are a 3 seed.
Kansas wins Thursday and loses first round of Big 12 tournament, 4 seed.
It seems that simple.
