Hard to argue against that take. Och is super athletic, But something is holding him back a little.

Mentality you can change, but not sure you can just turn someone into a triple threat in an iso. He just doesn't have that first step. 3 and D guy in the league.

Considering how much time these guys spend on hoops, I dunno how ballhandling isn’t a more common or easier skill to develop.

I’d say skill development may be the easier hurdle than mentality.

Ochai might be able to drive better in lineups with two quick guards next to him. Makes it so the third quickest guy guards him instead of second quickest.

Yeah, switches happen all the time and it's mostly pick and roll, but it might be helpful for a drive or two per game.

Don't think we'd run it against a team that is not switching as it is pretty much designed to try and exploit the switching.

League wide, it seems almost all teams switch it. Beard and Drew pretty much all the time. I have noticed that it is so well scouted to this point that a lot of teams don't even chase the ball on the dribble hand off anymore. Weber and Huggs will hack at it, of course.

And re: weave, I think those plays are as much about getting an angle for the big man as they are a look for the guards.

Eh, it's mostly about trying to get the other team's guards to screw up the switch or lose their man. I'm sure there is some 2020 footage out there that shows that team running it to create a mismatch for either Dot or MG to get downhill.

This is old, but a lot of the non-league teams aren't switching it and getting killed when they try to. It also helps having a guard like Mason or Graham who are triple threat every time they touch the ball--teams didn't want those guys switched off of if possible.

So is having Dot and MG/multiple guards in the weave who can take advantage and get downhill, at the least
