Re: Bracketology 2020-21
I wasn't trying to say Gonzaga can't play defense. They are a very good defensive team. I'm just saying that if you ask any analyst/coach/scout they will be more worried about Gonzaga's offensive power over their defense, and vice versa for Baylor. That doesn't mean Gonzaga sucks at defense and Baylor sucks at offense.
Just my personal opinion, in a "must have" possession, I'd feel more confident in Baylor getting a stop than Gonzaga getting a bucket.
Also, some things to consider in the adjD category, the WCC has 8 teams lower than 90 in the adjO where the Big 12 has 7 teams in the top 63. And yes, I understand the adj stands for adjusted, lol.

Interesting. Gasaway at ESPN has done this for past 3 years or so and one of the 8 teams he has picked has won it every year he's done it.

Kansas in the near miss category.
Gonzaga, Baylor, Michigan, Alabama, Houston, Illinois, Iowa and Colorado!?!?!? are the 8 teams he picks this year.

Re: Bracketology 2020-21
I don't think Scott Drew is very 'rated' so I don't know why he'd be overrated -- though I think Bill Self deserved to win B12 COY last season.
Few is one of the top 10 coaches in college basketball, leading one of the top 10 programs in the last 10 years - I think he's rated appropriately.

"overrated" is the go to if a coach they do not like has a good year. Then they are "overrated."
Re: Bracketology 2020-21
there’s a reason why Few is still coaching where he is
it’s relatively easy being a big fish in a little pond

Re: Bracketology 2020-21
Yes, there is a reason.
Because he's built a great program there and is loyal to the school.
He also loves the Pacific Northwest.

If you're Mark Few, right now, what job(s) would you leave Gonzaga for?

"overrated" is the go to if a coach they do not like has a better year than HCBS. Then they are "overrated."
Re: Bracketology 2020-21
i actually like Few, and think he’s a decent guy...i just don’t think he’s on the same level as Self as far as coaching prowess is concerned
Re: Bracketology 2020-21
I don't either.
But Bill Self is locked in as a top 5 coach.
Few isn't there yet.
If the argument is Few is a better coach than Self, then no, that's wrong.
I guess it depends on where he's rated - I'd put Bill Self, Izzo, Roi, Coach K, Jay Wright in that top 5, in various orders.
Few is in that Tony Bennett, John Calipari, Jim Boeheim, Chris Beard group below them.

Re: Bracketology 2020-21
Yeah I wonder how Few would do in a bigger conference and market.
Isn’t zags one of those those schools that tends to underperform relative to seeding?
How many other coaches could look really good playing a bunch of Catholic and Mormon schools with a 10pm est tip?

Re: Bracketology 2020-21
They always play a killer non-conference schedule and do well.
Obviously his winning % and conference titles are inflated by being in a weaker conference.
But I think people account for that...most of the time.
Few seems appropriately rated to me.
You have to give Drew credit for his turning the Baylor program around, that was basically the equivalent of KU football and he's made them nationally relevant.
I think his flaws are pretty evident and most are aware of them.
He's probably appropriately rated, if as pdub alluded to, he's rated at all.

I only came to kick some ass...
Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

Re: Bracketology 2020-21
As bad as KU football is... none of our players has killed another only to have the coach throw the victim under the bus to cover for the drug dealing murderer. But other than that, I agree with you.

Better question for here...If Bill Self was fired tomorrow would people be happy or bummed if they hired Mark Few to replace him?NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 1:07 pm If you're Mark Few, right now, what job(s) would you leave Gonzaga for?
I would be thrilled. People just knock him over some ncaa tourney early exits. They do the same to Bill Self except for the one year we had 6 NBA guys on our roster plus 2 more really, really good overseas players.
Teams and coaches who fuck up people's ncaa tourney office pool brackets more than once are viewed in an irrational light in my opinion.

Or getting bounced by Bucknell and Bradley in back to back year. 20 years ago. Could have won 5 titles since then and it would still be "Kansas always chokes".twocoach wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 2:28 pmBetter question for here...If Bill Self was fired tomorrow would people be happy or bummed if they hired Mark Few to replace him?NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 1:07 pm If you're Mark Few, right now, what job(s) would you leave Gonzaga for?
