Re: 2022-23 CBB Season
Wichita State should just go back to what they were going to do many years ago and hire Danny Manning. He'd be there for a long time, they'd make the tourney every few years. I'm not sure what else they are looking for? The Final Four was cool, but lightning in a bottle is once every 50-100 years type thing. They're just too petty to hire a KU guy now.

and thank goodness for that…i’d hate to have to start rooting for them if DM got hired
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Also, somewhat in the same vein, Vince McMahon unretires today and goes back to lead WWE. It's all winning over everything. World Cup another recent example.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 8:09 amhttps://m.lasvegassun.com/news/2023/jan ... -texas-am/InfiniteJ wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 8:51 pmI don't know, man; given the day-and-age we live in, I don't see any school giving a second chance to a coach who has "wife beater" on his resume...it's probably as close to a career killer situation as you can get. He's a good coach and it's almost always winning over everything, but the PR hit that any school/AD would take from even attempting to hire a coach with this hanging over him would be substantial...and I'm not sure that changes anytime soon.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 2:29 pm The ugly truth that everyone knows: Beard is a tremendous basketball coach that will make millions per year to do so very soon.

Man, you'd think they would enjoy torturing KU fans by hiring their superstar and doing well with him.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 9:00 am Wichita State should just go back to what they were going to do many years ago and hire Danny Manning. Right? We did see with Turgeon that KU fans were quite happy with their success under him.twocoach wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 9:18 amMan, you'd think they would enjoy torturing KU fans by hiring their superstar and doing well with him.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 9:00 am Wichita State should just go back to what they were going to do many years ago and hire Danny Manning. edit: Heck, Turgeon wouldn't be a bad candidate for them right now. He'd retire there (if he's not already retired).

I didn’t grow up in or near Kansas. I have zero negativity toward WSU, just Marshall. I’d have no issue with them hiring someone with KU ties.
Re: 2022-23 CBB Season
Fish: the 81 regionals really blew their nice card with KU. Nasty fans. KU lost on a no-call, but you would have thought it was by 50 points.

There's a great story on the Athletic about the Petrino motorcycle wreck and all the stuff that happened afterwards.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 8:09 amhttps://m.lasvegassun.com/news/2023/jan ... If WSU could find the right coach they'd be set up pretty good in the American with Houston and Cincinnati leaving.

There's some big time opportunity for them. Tulsa and Memphis only real challengers in the future. I think they have some good money to throw around, for that school. Current coach gets like $1M per year. Which is about run of the mill for American conference. They paid Marshall over $3M. They have a new AD from Murray State and they always had good luck with coaches there.

Kentucky has the talent. Have to put this season on Cal if they don't turn it around. That said, I still wouldn't be shocked if they make the Final Four.

Dariq Whitehead, #2 ranked player out of HS, just got rejected by the rim on a breakaway dunk that would have put duke up 3 with less than a minute to go, lol. Rough season for him. So sad.

The only coach that may be better than Self at finding overlooked talent is Mark Few.

Iowa State blows a big lead but hits a tough game winner on the road at TCU.
Clones are 3-0.
The Big 12 is stacked with good teams and good coaches. It's unreal.

Does 18-13 Kentucky even get a tourney invite?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 1:42 pm Kentucky has the talent. Have to put this season on Cal if they don't turn it around. That said, I still wouldn't be shocked if they make the Final Four.

If Kansas State keeps scoring like this, they're going to be a tough out.

I hope someone here took my advice and got them +6000.

Brutal. I haven't said anything to my 'cat friends. I kinda feel sorry for them.
