It would make sense the big ‘4’ are going to be SEC, B10, B12, and ACC.

It would. That's what it appears to be heading towards, at least initially.

It's also just as likely it ends up a big 2 at some point. And the historic conferences (sec big10 big12 etc) cease to exist.

All of the major pro sports have 2 conferences and then smaller divisions within. I am guessing it'll get to that eventually.
