2021 record: 15-13, lost in the playin bracket to NCAA darling UCLA 86-80.
Expected to finish 5th/6th in the Big 10.
Unranked AP. 22nd Kenpom.

Lost leading scorer Aaron Henry and 3rd leading scorer Joshua Langford ( 5 star guard with a disappointing career ). There's a lot of questions on which player will step up for Tom Izzo.

Northeastern transfer Tyson Walker should start at point, 6 foot, 175 junior.
18.8 PPG, 4.8 APG, 35% 3FG.

A couple seniors should be in line for more work in:
Gabe Brown, 6 foot 7, 210, 7.2 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 54% 2FG.
and
Marcus Bingham, 6 foot 11, 225, 3.5 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 50% FG.

They also landed 5 star guard, Max Christie, 6 foot 6, 185 - ranked in the top 20.

"Delicious, hot pho
My grandson, almost 10, and I came here after a LONG walk and loved our pho. It was big and plentiful with veggies and seafood. It was among the best pho I've ever had. Pleasant and quick service. Clean rest room."

Game is at 7 so you'll want to get to Thai Son at like 4:30 for an early dinner.
NQRW to Canal. 3 block walk to Baxter.
Leave the restaurant to return to the train at 5:45, you'll be at your seats, at the latest, by 6:30.

Any Izzo team you have to respect but this particular one is going to have to find it's identity - so i'd expect us to take care of business.

No.
But they are building a team out of depth without much starters returning.
We have four starters back - plus perhaps the best transfer in the nation.

I'm nervous. We had trouble with size and athleticism last year, as well as defending the 3. They are big, athletic, and can shoot.

Last year was one of Bill's better teams defending the 3.

Not sure why we forget how much the defense carried us last season.

Overall records in CC are: duke 6-4, KU 5-5, UK 5-5, MSU 4-6.

I'd like to tie it up at the top.

Izzo will ugly the game up. Make it difficult to feed Dave. My guess is Remy gets impatient and tries to do too much. Typical ugly early season basketball. KU wins a game in the 60s.

I love it. Michigan State seems a bit of a weird inclusion. Have always thought that. Considering when the event started, they hadn't won anything in 10+ years.

Probably wanted to avoid having 2 teams from the same conference and thought MSU was better than anyone else in the field at that point.

Exactly. No one else was good or consistent or both when the event began. One could make a case for adding Zags based on their performance over the past few years. Other candidates may be UVA, UCLA and Baylor - but they haven’t demonstrated consistency. I wouldn’t change a thing about the composition of the teams. Maybe change up the location every year, more in the West, perhaps rotating it among sites approximately in the four NCAA defined regions.
