An open letter calling for a swift diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine was published on Tuesday in the New York Times. The letter’s 14 signatories consisted mostly of former U.S. military officers and other national security officials…

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Good, it's past time:

It's absolutely NOT merely coincidental that our agreement here followed (1) GBR/France agreeing to send advanced missiles, and (2) Russia specifically targeting the Patriot batteries.

The rubes (and their handlers) don't want to admit it, but our stepwise involvement here has been a solid approach.

Agreed. The US has insisted on other countries sharing some of the burden and it has been the right way to go about this. This isn't just the US vs. Russia.

One of the things Biden is pretty good at is old-fashioned “underpromise and overdeliver.” And doing it by behind the scenes maneuvering and coalition-building.

I’m watching the debt ceiling stuff. It would be fairly typical for a plan to materialize seemingly out of thin air (when the reality is that the plan is deftly organized).

I would love to see an audit group set up outside of the Defense Department to run audits of our Defense Department and all of their contracts with outside entities. Create American jobs to pay American workers to ensure that American tax dollars are not fraudulently stolen away from their intended purpose.

Yea.

Among the reasons why I think it’s wiser to be suspicious of, rather than patriotically embrace, the “stand with Ukraine no matter how long it takes” sort of rhetoric.

There's never a bad time to audit your finances. It doesn't prevent anything from happening; it would help ensure that the money is going towards helping those innocent people and not towards fattening the pockets of a defense contractor.
