Chiefs 2023
Re: Chiefs 2023
Look at his highlights. Toney can juke anyone.
Re: Chiefs 2023
Toney is already hurt.
Season hasn't started.

Re: Chiefs 2023

Too bad it's a poor joke.

Re: Chiefs 2023
I'd take:
A 2024 1st rounder from Chicago ( either theirs or the Pants, they choose ).
A 2024 2nd rounder from Chicago ( either theirs or the Pants, they choose ).
Gervon Dexter ( get ) / Tershawn Wharton ( give ).
A 2025 1st round swap if beneficial to the Chiefs, otherwise a 2025 2nd rounder, for Chris Jones.

I hate stupid shit like this. Sarcasm doesn't play well on social media.
Re: Chiefs 2023
This is the first this year. Schechter was wrong. Sucks, but hoping he will be ready for game one. We have had KUBB players only miss a few games in season with it. But he is an injury magnet

“Kadarius had surgery on his knee [Tuesday] morning for cartilage,” said Reid. “It should be relatively quick as we go here. He wanted to get that thing taken care of.”
I guess the previous surgery, on the same knee, was in 2022, not 2023, just a bit over 1 year apart.
Nevertheless:
Hamstring summer 2021. Ankle sprain week 5 2021. Quad week 11 2021. Oblique week 12 2021. Shoulder week 16 2021.
Knee procedure summer 2022. Hamstring week 2 2022. Hamstring week 11 2022.
Knee procedure summer 2023.

The physical fragility criticism is warranted.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 11:00 am“Kadarius had surgery on his knee [Tuesday] morning for cartilage,” said Reid. “It should be relatively quick as we go here. He wanted to get that thing taken care of.”

What’s not, in my opinion, is thinking he’s mentally soft (which I’m not seeing you say). He has to know that he’s at an inflection point: is he going to make $12mm as a fragile journeyman? Or $60mm as a high 2/low 1?
My point is - he’s got SO much incentive to be on the field. So I believe that it really is a can’t thing, not a doesn’t want to thing.
Re: Chiefs 2023
I think what gets lost in the Jones talk is Sneed. If you pay Jones, then you probably need to deal Sneed. And I’m not sure the Chiefs have figured out whether they want to pay Sneed.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 8:24 am I'd take:

It’s a tough spot. Jones is clearly better (compared to his position competition) than Sneed. But Sneed has more positional value.
Re: Chiefs 2023
I agree -- from what i've seen ( with his crazy bug eyes ) it looks like he really wants to make a difference as a Chief.
I just don't think we can count on him as our no. 1 WR....so we really don't have a no. 1 WR.

Re: Chiefs 2023
I don’t think it’s open and shut either way. So I’m wondering if what’s happening is the Chiefs are quietly exploring Sneed’s trade market. If you can get something compelling for Sneed, maybe you do that deal and pay Jones, both now.
Re: Chiefs 2023
Possibly.
I'd rather let it play out and have the franchise tag for both as leverage so that you could tag and deal either one of them but still have both of them for another run this season.
Sneed is under 3 mill against the cap.
If you're gonna trade anyone, and get max value plus all the cap space that would come with it, it might be Chris Jones.
All of this depends on what kind of deals you could get for either though.

Agree on all. Fundamentally, I don't think you can pay them both, after this year.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 11:49 am Possibly.

Re: Chiefs 2023
Nope.
Veach fortunately may have found one or two late round corners that might step up to take that spot.
Add that to McDuffie and I think that it's probably Sneed who is gone as long as Chris Jones isn't wildly trying to reset the market.
I also don't think you'd get a lot for Sneed bc my guess is other GM's know what you and I are assuming -- that we can't keep both.

Re: Chiefs 2023
I wouldn't worry so much about the leverage component; if there is competitive tension (multiple interested teams), that solves for itself.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Jul 26, 2023 12:32 pm Nope.

It's probably not this simple, but (this being a message bored) in 2024 would you rather have: (1) Jones at $30mm and a 2nd and a 4th for Sneed, OR (2) Sneed at $20mm and a 1st and a 3rd for Jones?
