White women are about to find out that eliminating "DEI policies" is going to hurt them a disproportionate amount.
Maybe state universities should stop giving higher percentages of student aid to rural candidates from their states, too. You know, to ensure that the people who earn it get that money and it not just being a DEI reward for living in a certain zip code.
Man, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a lot of drug trials, cancer research and other types of extremely beneficial and important work is also getting sidelined or cancelled. What a fucking shit show.KUTradition wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:48 amwithout giving up too much, she’s in a role that predominately relies on federal grants. she assists underprivileged students transferring to KU from smaller colleges/universitiestwocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:43 amIs she in a role that teaches something controversial such as real history?KUTradition wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:39 am i have a feeling i’ll learn this week that my mom has lost her job at KU

i’ve got a friend that i went to grad school with that lives in Ann Arbor, but teleworks for USGS…brilliant person, whose only other current option is going back to a post-doc that is, you guessed it, federally-funded (NSF/NIH)twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:51 amMan, sorry to hear that. And I would guess that this part is more feature than bug to a huge chunk - possibly a majority - of MAGA. For example, the sort of family man who might make several million dollars/year to kick a football.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:43 amIs she in a role that teaches something controversial such as real history?KUTradition wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 10:39 am i have a feeling i’ll learn this week that my mom has lost her job at KU

I do not perceive my own job to be at risk, but my ability to do it well is certainly compromised; it’s challenging to help people and businesses do what they want to do in a manner that complies with laws, rules and regulations when you don’t have any confidence in what the laws, rules and regulations are and mean and do and require.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 12:35 pmMini BUD lost a client and they came out and said they are concerned about the future economy and want to take less risk and move their agency local. One of my brothers works for the federal government and has been getting weird emails and has had big group meetings with a trump appointee on efficiency and roles. Everyone in his department is terrified.
It's not good folks.
Here are some efficiency and responsible spending ideas.
This isn't about government efficiency at all. But if it is, this is the least efficient way of fixing it as you are going to run off the best workers so that all that remains are the most desperate due to them being the least capable of getting a different job.
There is justifiable criticism for redundancy in our federal workforce.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2025 1:54 pmThis isn't about government efficiency at all.
