for example, if Och does a commercial for Laird-Noller, can he be wearing KU gear? his jersey?
They mentioned some things like whether school logos can be worn are (or are going to be) state/school specific.
that’s dumb, if true

the “rules” should be evenly applied across the board...i mean, NOT doing so is the main reason behind the NCAA not being viewed in the best of light by many

off the top of my head, i can't imagine the circumstance where i am directly giving college athletes my money. not for a picture. an autograph. merchandise. a guest appearance at my grandsons birthday.

nothing.

i wouldn't pay for a pro athletes autograph. why would i pay for a college kids.

Exactly.

NCAA now has to try and drop a hammer in this new world. Things are coming up all KU right now.

I think they are trying to do that, but it's not a simple task....which is why these new NIL rules were announced the night before a handful of states new laws started today. Other wise 5 or 6 (or however many) states were going to have a significant advantage with NIL.

Well fwiw Silvio was posting advertisements for clothing lines that he was rocking while at KU. Hard to prove he got their shit for free in exchange for posting Instagram lives/videos opening their merchandise, but not far fetched since that is what thousands of other instagrammers do for various companies....and SDS has nearly 30k followers.

Unfortunately none of these changes to NIL are going to save us....

We may not be punished severely, but our issues aren't going away because of NIL.

He also hasn't been a member of the team or played a game in eons.

All we care about is the punishment, so it absolutely can change things or "save us" so to speak.

Those posts were before all of his troubles that led to him being kicked off the team.

And it's crazy that to me that he has 30k followers after all this time not playing.

Call the NCAA, maybe they'll want your social media sleuthing skills.

Sorry i didn't use your preferred wording.

To me Save us = no punishment at all. And I don't think that's happening, especially not for KT.

Mere probation and a show cause for KT is absolutely "saving us" even if it is technically a sanction.

Sign me up right the fuck now for that and I will happily argue over the semantics.

What we are accused of doing (and were probably doing) are still not allowed under the new NIL changes from everything i have read. You can't offer recruits money/gifts to come to your school. You can't facilitate endorsements. Etc.

I agree. I'd be fine with that ending too.

But i don't think it'll be due to NIL changes, it'll be due to their inability to fully prove any of it.

Meanwhile, the sanctions are getting less severe by the day for even worse offenders. It's the environment.
