Is Adidas now allowed to offer a recruit $20,000 to rep Adidas on their social media? Yep.

Not if it is tied to committing to a certain school.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Can't be any more difficult to investigate and enforce than the way it's always been i suppose.

Agreed but you'd have to prove that it was tied to committing. The ncaa can allege that it is all they want. Moving forward, all you have to do is state in the contract that the player cannot be pictured on their social media profiles wearing official gear from another shoe company. You aren't telling them to go to a specific school.

It will just be a different clusterfuck that is less likely to screw schools and players who had nothing to do with the money changing hands when sanctions are passed down long after a player leaves the school.

I don't think you get it.

If Adidas gives you $20,000 but doesn't tell you which Adidas school to go to, but it should be an adidas school, they didn't do anything wrong.

If Russell Athletics gives you $45 and a gift card to taco bell, They'd be in violation immediately since, they have only one school...and presumably, thye'd be tied to that school.

Since we are playing hypothetical games...adidas can't give them money and have a requirement of that money be that said player attend an adidas university.

Also, adidas has already been paying our players to come to Kansas...so not sure what really changes other than people can't pretend it isn't happening.

I think as long as Russel Athletics waits to enter into something until after they (players) have already committed to that 1 school then they'd be fine?

You can bet that schools/conferences will try to carve shoe companies out of NIL permissions.

That way we can still have our lead recruiter be TJ Gasnolla?
