It's the players NIL that they are singing. Like i said, he won't be wearing Alabama gear...but he's recognizable because he's the Alabama QB.

I know what you're saying. If he was the Southern IL Carbondale QB he wouldn't be getting signed to deals like this. But the rules state that as long as NIL isn't tied to committing to a school then it is legal. The Alabama fan base makes him valuable. The school doesn't own their fan base. It's a perk.

These are the .1% ers of college sports athletes. Alabama QB, dude above, etc. Way more Mitch Lightfoots doing local business ads for a couple hundred than players making millions.

Part of the reason i was glad the rules changed is because it appeared our staff was having trouble following the old rules. I think they will be able to follow the new rules and now Adidas doesn't have to worry about trying to steer guys to KU. If our future elite recruits want money they can now get it legally. It's a win win imo..

Maybe. But it won't need to be done by our coaching staff.

Right now i can only go off of what is actually happening. And right now it doesn't look like it's tied to steering players. Most of the players getting paid are already established at their school or have large followings already in HS.

Suni Lee the gymnast who won gold last night is going to make millions. She's already going to attend Auburn..that future money has nothing to do with attending Auburn. It's because she is now a household name.

That can happen without NIL.

With NIL most of that would not only be against the rules, it would be illegal. And those people could end up in jail.

That's just not how legalization and regulation works, though. There isn't more illicit weed growing and selling where weed is legalized. There isn't more illicit bookmaking where sports betting is legalized.

They still have the final say; they will just be handcuffed on doing their own investigation of the cases that are assigned to them unless they can prove why the additional investigation is warranted and will be asked to provide an estimated timeline so that they aren't blasted for taking forever.

The board also approved an immediate change to the Independent Accountability Resolution Process, made at the recommendation of the Independent Accountability Oversight Committee. The Complex Case Unit will accept the investigative work of the enforcement staff unless the unit can demonstrate a compelling reason why additional investigation is required.

Additionally, the board approved a request to allow case timelines to be developed and published for each case in the independent process. This change will provide transparency and improve credibility.

The oversight committee, which has expressed concerns about the delay in the resolution of cases referred to the independent process, determined that much of the delay is the result of efforts by the Complex Case Unit to "re-investigate" cases that the enforcement staff thoroughly investigated. Accepting the enforcement staff's results will speed the process significantly without compromising the goals of the Independent Accountability Resolution Process, committee members think.
