I'm actually fairly pissed off about it. They cleared Silvio twice......theyre paying kids a million a year to play now. It's all a fucking joke.

I assume this means the NCAA Tournament streak ended in 2018 as well.

Dang.

I’ve asked if we could somehow like sue the ncaa for justifiably relying on their Certified Amateur status with Silvio, but whatever.

If there’s a silver lining to vacating the 18
Final Four, it’s that I blacked out hard on mass st that night, so it already kinda felt like it never happened either way

Ah.
Yep:

"As part of Wednesday's ruling, the Jayhawks were placed on a three-year probation and will have to vacate its 2018 Final Four appearance and wins from that season due to Silvio de Sousa's participation."

OK, so they fucked us.
F the NCAA.

If you're Kansas, I do NOT alter our banner in Allen Fieldhouse.
I keep everything up ( Final Fours, consecutive NCAA appearances ) in media guides. I keep future descriptions from our school to include that Final Four. I continue to tout our 14 straight conference championships. I ignore the NCAA completely.

Welp, the ruling says we can't do that.

"any public references to the vacated records shall be removed from the athletics department stationery and banners displayed in public areas"

So...like...what if we don't?

They raised a banner that said 2013 Final Coaches Poll #1.
Basically we could raise a banner for 2020 like that too.

Don't take 2018 off the Final Four banner.
See what the NCAA does.

I don't see why the NCAA can punish a school for the the NCAA:s eligibility decision. That is grounds for appeal IMHO, because it levies sanctions for something the NCAA was responsible for. I get not being able to appeal institutional issues, but this one was clearly an NCAA self own

Attended that game with my Mom and it will always be a Top 5 "I was there" KU moment for me. Curious to hear if the players on the team care about the banner coming down.

1) the IRP isn't the NCAA
2) Their rulings cannot be appealed

Let's see...how many wins does Kentucky have to vacate because of World Wide Wes? Zero. How many does Duke vacate for Zion? Zero. Yes, the NCAA is all about fairness.

The NCAA cleared player 1 to play at KU then penalized us for playing him.
