Seems Emmert’s statement is worthy of ridicule in regards to his wanting to protect players (and coaches) from the virus. Best way to protect them may be to not have them play the tournament. On second thought, maybe it’s better than making them stay on a college campus. Who the fuck really knows for sure? Whole thing sucks Chinese elephant balls.

I agree, but if there's one organization who thinks they don't have to refund....Ghost of dotNET past wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 3:57 pmHoly class action.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 3:55 pm Interesting how "reimbursement" wasn't mentioned in any of the 3 articles I read on the topic. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the NCAA says too bad, it's our money now.
Nah, these events are usually insured. People will get their money back.

From someone who planned their trip - I am not still going. I figure 95% of people have not planned their trips to the Regional Finals sites. The Final Four is a completely different story.

So with all of this in mind, does this impact where we want to go?

Stubhub has pulled all the Big 10 tournament tickets. Wonder if they are going to ban fans.

Can speak on something that happened in Wichita the time KU played there a couple of years ago during Final 4 run.Bearcat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 4:36 pmThis!Psychhawk wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 4:34 pm The biggest losers are not the NCAA, not the players, not the fans who made plans, not the arena owners. The real losers are all the workers who lose income, small businesses who lose revenue, people who work for suppliers who might lose jobs. Just this tournament alone, which is what folks on here worry about, will have a pretty big ripple effect on the economy.
I'm not sure which will devastate the US worse, a widespread Coronavirus pandemic, or mass hysteria about trying to prevent the spread devastating the US and world economy.
A business (bar) close to arena was close to shutting down. Owners almost filing bankrupt. They waited as long as they could to get to the NCAA tournament.
They made it to the tournament and did so well that they were able to save quite a bit of money to be able to pay a lot of their bills that they had for the bar off. They are looking forward to when it's in Wichita next year. (With or without KU there)

I mean I still say Houston because NCAA will try to keep travel minimal for teams if I had a guess.

Re: NCAA 19-20
Great question. I’m assuming we would prefer to not go where the virus is most prevalent but does it really matter at this point?
I feel bad for the players on other teams who will be playing in their first and possibly last tournament in front of less fans than they played in front of in Junior High.

Minimizing travel is going to happen. Expect to see stacked, unbalance regions due to this...NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 5:01 pmI mean I still say Houston because NCAA will try to keep travel minimal for teams if I had a guess.

No Big 12 fans after today according to Bowlsby. So KU will be used to it by next week.

I'd tend to think empty seats favors the favorites. No upset momentum/support. Refs less influenced by same.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 5:46 pm No Big 12 fans after today according to Bowlsby. So KU will be used to it by next week.
Re: NCAA 19-20
I have no problem with any of it so far. If it turns out to have negatively impacted Kansas' chances at a title then I will feel different but removing fans seems to favor the more tr talented team that isnt relying on emotions and a hot streak to win. KU has the most talent in the court. If it's just a battle between the two teams in pure basketball skill then I like our chances.Grandma wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 4:38 pmSeems Emmert’s statement is worthy of ridicule in regards to his wanting to protect players (and coaches) from the virus.
