Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
Re: Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
KJ shooting 6 times from 3pt land is too much. He doesn't need to settle for that many 3s.
Re: Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
KJ will not crack the lineup.
OA will be very good for us. We have too much depth this year though. He will likely redshirt. Probably be our only scholarshipped redshirt.

If Self did indeed say this, and I'm a bit doubtful, it's just smoke. Doesn't matter how much Michigan State knows about us or how they've scouted us. It always comes down to in-game adjustments. Always does.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 8:22 pmThat is partly by design. Self said we're not brining out too much stuff prior to game 1 so that there isn't tape on our stuff.3rdGenJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Nov 01, 2018 8:06 pm I'm really missing Graham / Mason. Doesn't seem like we have a stable/reliable point guard yet. I don't see any real set up plays, just a lot of trowing the ball down the court as fast a possible. I'd like to see more thought in our game play.

Watch his 5 minute press conference after the Emporia state game if you think I made it up.chiknbut wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 10:48 amIf Self did indeed say this, and I'm a bit doubtful, it's just smoke. We haven't hardly run any set plays to get easy baskets.
I agree it comes down to in game adjustments, but that's not what we are talking about. "Set up plays" were the topic, which it was pretty obvious to see we weren't running. Like at all.
Re: Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
We typically haven't run much stuff in these exhibition games. That said, I don't think Izzo will see a lot Tuesday that really surprises him.
Re: Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
Agree on both. Exhibitions are purely to get the jitters out and give the coaches something to yell "see, I told you" about in film sessions. There is nothing to be learned from them by fans other than what the new players look like.
Re: Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
As in, literally what they look like and what numbers we need to get used to!
Re: Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
Thats what I meant. Lots of new faces and names to get used to this year. That and a general view of whether we have a functional amount of talent is all I take from exhibition games.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 11:43 amAs in, literally what they look like and what numbers we need to get used to!
Tuesday will be a fascinating day all around.
Re: Official Game thread: KU vs Washburn
Tuesday will be 4 big time programs coming together to play some sloppy basketball.
Gotta start somewhere.

Remember our matchup with Kentucky last year?

Really ugly. Wasn't it in the 60's?
