Helms was an outside ‘authority’. The NCAA could declare a champion and it would have more weight, but I still would be very very disappointed.

Guy/girl should be thrilled. Dayton wasn't going to win it all and he/she gets his $30 back.
Ok, you're right. I don't know Dayton wasn't going to win it all.
I too would have been happy losing to the $30 if it meant getting to watch them and all the other teams play in the tournament.

17 hours later. This still really sucks.

There is always going to be a "what if" with this season regarding KU. They were clearly the favorite. They lapped the field according to many. They were relatively healthy and playing their best ball.

And it ends just like that.

I hate this. But it's still going to get much worse before it gets better. More athletes, coaches, referees are going to test positive and it's going to make for an interesting 30+ days.

It truly is outside of something happening to my family..

I've had sports in my blood since I was a baby. I would like to think I have above average sports knowledge, trivia and history. It's something that has always been a big interest of mine.

My wife (who is not a sports fan outside of watching baseball games in person, she played softball) always asks why sports mean so much to me and why I always watch. I always say it's because it gives me a break from reality. It gives me an opportunity to dip back into my competitive side. It gives me a chance to cheer for my team when things going on in the world or the US are not looking good.

I don't get that chance for quite a while now. I like to watch sports and hang out with my family. I literally have to do things I don't like to do now. To pass time now, I have to do shit like yard work, things around the house, watch shows on Netflix or whatever.

This sucks.

Walking home from my shopping this morning I saw a young child in a wheel chair who was missing both her legs. She was being pushed by I assume it was her stone faced father.
