S'pose it would help if read more carefully.

You're lucky you were able to go to the "zoo" even if it was a Costco.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:10 pmSappy, look at the bright side post: There were similar feelings about the government failing after 9/11 and the country came together.zsn wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 11:02 pm Again, not to turn this into a politics thread.......but if I read the above posts (just on this page) I cannot help but realize the unanimous opinion that our current medical care is a complete failure and includes a call for a "Government run" testing/healthcare system (references to Germany and South Korea, not to mentions Singapore in a different thread).
I went to the Costco zoo today and everyone was patient, kind and in surprisingly good spirits.
I think today is a turning point. The numbers are going to get worse before they get better, but we are finally starting to have the right sentiment.
After 9/11/01 I was bored sitting at home and I was in a funk.
Work (I worked on the trading floor of the CBOE) was cancelled. There were no sports to watch on TV. Pretty much every day I went to the Lincoln Park Zoo. It was therapeutic for me in many ways.
Yesterday as I was sitting at home I thought to myself, tomorrow is going to be a nice day. A little chilly put pleasant. I think I'll go hang out at the zoo and chillax for a while.
This morning (like all mornings) I received an email from the Chicago Sun Times with the "headlines" for the day.
It should have been obvious to me that this would happen but it was upsetting for me to see it...
https://chicago.suntimes.com/2020/3/12/ ... oronavirus
I also received an email that the Broad (museum) in LA is not open. Then I received an email from a friend who is in a production at the Lookingglass Theater. His show - closed down.
Then I read another friend's post on Facebook. He's a musician. The venue he was supposed to perform at this weekend. Closed down.
I have lived in Chicago most of my 53 years. I have NEVER experienced anything like this and as time goes by, it's going to hit me (and a lot of people) a lot harder.
As I am known for saying - IT'S JUNK!
Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
It is amazing the impact this has had and will have. Its also amazing how lackadaisical and cavalier somepeople around me are about it. Complete panic and buy out the stores....and then go pack into to a home and garden show the next day.
Also Im being required to head to toe sanitize my jobsite this morning. But, i have to locate a store that HAS sanitizer and do the sanitizing myself. Better than not sanitizing i suppose sdn I am on board with doing it, just seems like an odd thing as I am not trained in proper sanitization. I will do my best as always.
I do love a good zoo. Shhh tho, dont say it out loud, cascadia is gonna call you an asshole.

Bleach is a sanitizer. Go on the bleach websites to see what the ratio is. Hydrogen peroxide also. Make your own hand sanitizer with 70% alcohol and aloe vera gel.TDub wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 6:58 am It is amazing the impact this has had and will have. Being in banking, I think my industry is considered essential. We will have to be here more often than not. But I wouldn't be shocked if things got to the point to where outbound sales focused staff who don't have to be in the office to do work, will work from home.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 8:38 am Prediction: yesterday was all events with crowds.

Couldn't find anything close to a "sanitizer" on Wednesday, so stocked up on bleach, although got one of the last few bottles.seahawk wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 9:00 amBleach is a sanitizer. We are all posting about how the virus is affecting the communities we live in and our lives. It's part of the conversation. Feel free to put me on ignore if you're too bothered by what I choose to post about.DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2020 10:10 pmlulz
Your cruise.
Your condo.
Your tournament tickets.
Your daughter can't miss school.
And that's without bothering to look back at any of your posts.
You poor dear.
Just scrolling through this page of this thread, CnB and TDub are both talking about how this affects them personally and professionally. No call out? No, of course not.

Our IT teams are doing rotating WAH exercises next week to make sure that we can all log in from home at the same time without incident and that we can still support our systems. My team does WAH next Monday. Authorizations, fraud prevention, ACH payments, check processing, all of it still has to happen.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 9:05 amBeing in banking, I think my industry is considered essential. Yea. If we go work from home it means no work. Pretty tough to build buildings from home. Ha.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 9:22 am i’m looking forward to “working” from home...mainly because there might be a solid 2-3 hours of actual work that i can do
