This actually did happen to me once, with a much smaller dog. Got the wooden fence finished in front of a chain link fence already in place. The neighbor installing the fence left a 3 foot spot where there was only chain link fence. He went out and used a foundation post that we had laid down to keep him from digging out in the sand and jumped right over. The resigned 'dammit' made me laugh.
