More tribute.

I was fortunate to see them play at Kezar Stadium in 1981. Flipper opened for them. Mind blown.thebones wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 9:22 pmThanks for posting this. First I've heard. Dude was a freak but legendary. Throbbing Gristle is not easy listening but was groundbreaking.defixione wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 8:16 pm RIP Genesis.

Genesis collaborated with William Burroughs in Lawrence in 1981 on a recording.
Here's an example from the psychic tv days:
And genesis and company arguably invented the acid house genre in the late 80's:
This is my favorite psychic tv disco song:
RIP in peace genesis.

That's cool man. For anyone not familiar with Flipper, they were one of the early Subterranean/ROIR records bands. They had one of the classic punk album covers. Generic Flipper.defixione wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 10:48 pmI was fortunate to see them play at Kezar Stadium in 1981. Flipper opened for them. I mean, they're a shitty punk rock band. But this song isn't bad

Radiohead's Kid A was released on 10/2/00. The record portends doom all over the place.

This may be my favorite album ever. Despite some stoopid lyrics.

“rediscovering” 311, and reminiscing about good times in high school
not my favorite track, but the one playing now

Nah, I didn't have a car in 1998. Would've been starting around 2000. But saw them probably 2-3 times a year when I was in the KC area.
And Bottleneck is closed? That's sad.

Re: What music does everyone listen to?
yup, good times in high school...every morning in the parking lot, kids blasting 311 on their subwoofers in the back of their 5.0 mustangs...
Re: What music does everyone listen to?
not closed, but i think it changed names
Re: What music does everyone listen to?
somebody told me relatively recently, like last couple years, that 311 was playing cruise ships these days
kinda sad if true, but gotta pay those bills

Re: What music does everyone listen to?
Nah, it's not sad Cruise Ships. They literally rented out a cruise ship just to play like 6 sets over a weekend. Kinda like "311 Day" where they just play for 3 days straight in a fest like setting.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 11:05 am somebody told me relatively recently, like last couple years, that 311 was playing cruise ships these days

I haven't seen them in a few years, but they still seem to have a huge following.
Re: What music does everyone listen to?

I know a hippie chick that went on one a while back. drunk on drugs dancing topless on a boat for a week straight.
well, not completely topless. like some hippie chick body paint or pasties or something.
