The Work From Home/Quarantine Thread
Re: The Work From Home/Quarantine Thread
I went to law school in Minnesota. Over winter break my 2L or 3L year, my roommate and I decided to venture out to the bars after hosting his parents for dinner in our apartment.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 1:48 pmmust’ve hit up a tater to get a thong big enough for his...uh...blouse?
Being Minnesota in the winter, it was bitterly cold, and windy. I was wearing a parka with a hood so my peripheral vision was impaired.
At some point on the walk, my roommate reported how happy he was that his mom had come into the city having done several loads of laundry for him. Included in his laundry was a perfect face mask to wear outside for walks such as the one we were on.
I turned my head to see - and yes, there was my roommate, dumbly staring out at me through the leg-holes of a pair of his mother's panties.

Not sure if anyone needs to know this, but Costco on Linwood got a shipment and had a lot of toilet paper as of 1 PM today.
I’m no hoarder, but we were close to running out and had not seen it anywhere for quite awhile.

What is going on with you people and toilet paper? I luckily had a fresh 24 pack that was unopened before all this went down. My cousin, who is in the wholesale game, said he estimated he had 11,000 rolls, and people are going nuts for them.

Got damn Vega. I mean, good for him. But that's fucking insane.

It's ridiculous and makes U.S. society look ridiculous. Went to Costco a couple of weeks ago knowing that lockdowns were coming and had no thought at all that TP would be something to buy. Saw people have 4, 5, 6 of the Costco mega packs of it.
Bought it for the first time today in like 6 months. I did think that once everywhere restocked, it would be plentiful b/c the hoarders don't need it for another couple of decades.

I have three girls in my house and we have only gone through a few rolls of toilet paper since this started almost 2 weeks ago. What the hell are people doing that requires so much toilet paper? One 24 pack from Costco last us for months and months.
People are weird.

The only thing I keep my eye out for is hand sanitizer, which I have not found since this started.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 2:56 pm Not sure if anyone needs to know this, but Costco on Linwood got a shipment and had a lot of toilet paper as of 1 PM today.

He's supplying them to businesses, in the normal course of business. It's his normal inventory, but companies are putting in huge orders for toilet paper, and he had to put a limit on fulfilling those orders.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:03 pmGot damn Vega. If our local teachers union was smart and ruthless, they would go on strike starting the first day they let kids go back to school and demand a 100% pay raise. Every person who is spending their day juggling their own full time job with being a teacher to their kids would demand that the increase in pay be given to them. They deserve it.
Re: The Work From Home/Quarantine Thread
Why do companies need toilet paper? No one is going to work to use it.Vega wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:08 pmHe's supplying them to businesses, in the normal course of business. No, he supplies retail stores (mostly smaller convenience shops, not big retailers). So their customers are buying up all the TP.

That seems like a good way to lose public goodwill. They would be standing in the way of allowing normalcy to come back.twocoach wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:15 pm If our local teachers union was smart and ruthless, they would go on strike starting the first day they let kids go back to school and demand a 100% pay raise. There were some handheld tubes of it at Whole Foods today. It costs more than your insurance deductible, though.twocoach wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:08 pmThe only thing I keep my eye out for is hand sanitizer, which I have not found since this started.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 2:56 pm Not sure if anyone needs to know this, but Costco on Linwood got a shipment and had a lot of toilet paper as of 1 PM today.

Re: The Work From Home/Quarantine Thread
It was just a joke about how we are all suddenly aware of how hard it is to be a teacher, how they dont get paid enough and how we're all going to be sick of doing it. I dont actually think it would or should be done.Vega wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 3:18 pmThat seems like a good way to lose public goodwill.
