Grocery store throws out $35,000 worth of food it says woman deliberately coughed on

The past few weeks have been tough for Gerrity’s Supermarket, a small family-owned chain in northeastern Pennsylvania. Like grocers nationwide, it has been deluged with orders and has struggled to keep basics such as chicken breasts and toilet paper on the shelves. Employees have been working overtime, pausing only for five-second breaks to wipe everything down with disinfectant wipes.

Then, on Wednesday afternoon, a woman came in and deliberately coughed all over the produce section, meat case and bakery department, co-owner Joe Fasula said. The store had to throw away more than $35,000 worth of food.

“Today was a very challenging day,” Fasula wrote in a message to shoppers on Facebook. “While there is little doubt this woman was doing it as a very twisted prank, we will not take any chances with the health and well-being of our customers."

She deserves to be flogged.

After they bill her for it.

I'm thoroughly humiliated to be a physician and watch how incredibly inept our health care "system" is in its response to the pandemic. There will be consequences, not only in morbidity and mortality, but in the strains this puts on our society, especially on those with the least ability to handle it. It's bad enough how lame we look to the rest of the world, but the doctor/patient relationship is based on trust, and this is doing nothing but degrading that trust.

I think the profits he netted from that stunt would make an excellent relief fund for working class families impacted by the shutdown.

Is it the same or only test China used, or are there multiple tests manufactured in China? And was the same test(s) exported to Spain?

If my post, the video, &/or "Maddow" had been primarily about "tests", I guess you'd have a point. But, they weren't: ...infected/potential infected isolated from family members & tested; constant taking of temperatures everywhere, fever clinics, CT scans, etc.... In fact, my post was primarily about our health care system, and I never mentioned "tests".

Yeah, but you have to admit, the CDC says that rapid tests for influenza are required to have 80% sensitivity, so they get a pass.

FBI learned of coronavirus-inspired bomb plotter through radicalized US Army soldier. The FBI's office in Missouri issued an alert offering more details on the case.

The suspected white supremacist who plotted to bomb a hospital facing the coronavirus crisis was in touch with a then-active U.S. Army soldier who wanted to launch his own attack on a major American news network and discussed targeting a Democratic presidential candidate, according to an FBI alert summarizing the case.

On Tuesday, as 36-year-old Timothy Wilson was on the verge of trying to detonate a car bomb at a Kansas City-area medical center, agents from the FBI’s field office in Missouri attempted to arrest him. But shots were fired, fatally wounding Wilson, according to the FBI.

Ahead of Tuesday’s incident, Wilson “espoused white supremacist ideology” and “made a threat that if any agent attempted to [search his property] they should ‘bring a lot of body bags,” said the FBI alert, distributed to state and local law enforcement agencies in the region on Wednesday...

“With the current COVID-19 pandemic, Wilson decided to accelerate his plan to detonate a [car bomb] to cause severe harm and mass casualties,” the FBI said in its alert. “Wilson may have also believed the additional stress on society posed by the COVID-19 pandemic provided unique opportunities to exploit.”

The FBI believes other extremists inside the U.S. homeland may similarly “aspire to capitalize on the current health crisis,” but it is “unlikely” any of their actions “will rise to the level of terroristic actions like Wilson,” the alert issued Wednesday said.

I don’t think the virus was man-made or somehow generated for that purpose, but I do think the opportunity is being seized to do things that have been on the agenda for a long time, such as moving to digital currency, getting people used to having their movements tracked and controlled, nationalizing healthcare, and potentially introducing martial law by creating an environment for such civil unrest that the government will be “compelled” to do so. A one world government can’t come into effect until the U.S. economy is effectively collapsed. It would seem we are well on our way.
