Social distancing is still your best option, Gutter. Best of luck to you and your mother.

Poured all day Sat and Sun, so I didn't leave house, and it forced people inside this weekend. Hopefully cleaned up some surfaces as well out there.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
While in no way diagnostic, the differential diagnosis, i.e., the # of reasons why someone would lose their sense of smell &/or taste is pretty small and ~ half the time fairly obvious due to sinusitis/upper respiratory infection/allergic rhinitis, head trauma, etc. There are also neurodegenerative reasons like strokes, Alzheimer's Dz., aging, etc. But, when people don't readily fit into any of those categories, I'd be thinking COVID-19, until proven otherwise.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 12:59 pm just got a call about a possible infection among our staff of 10

Thank goodness we're finally beginning to make some meaningful progress on testing!

guy is 41 (i think), and in good health
so far, symptoms are steady, so he and his wife are quarantined at home
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
the worst part is that 1) the wife probably has the closest interactions with him on a regular basis, and 2) we work in a facility with live animals, so it’s not like everyone can just go home and quarantine/work from home
i could do much of my work from home, but not the wife...the animals don’t care if it’s a weekend, holiday, or a pandemic

Billie Jean King Center being put to good use. Good idea to use the facility, especially since they added a roof to Arthur Ash. But the hard courts also better since it's been wet as fuck here last 10 days or so.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
One of my buddies from KU called me yesterday. He lives outside Phoenix, and works for a large pipeline corporation.
He said 2 weeks ago, his company had an emergency meeting regarding Covid-19 in LA amongst senior department heads. 49 in attendance.
As of today, 27 of them have tested positive. 3 are currently on ventilators...and 1 is being removed from his ventilator as he is too far gone.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Went to the grocery store this morning.
STILL no cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, tp, or all that stuff.
At this point, why? Are people still hoarding? Is it some hangup in the supply chain?
And even though senior hours are 7-9am, I show up around 10 and there’s disproportionally old folks just putzing around.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Yeah. I don't get it either. Can't get rubbing alcohol or paper towels anywhere and it's now been several weeks. Those shelves just sray perpetually empty, or people just ckear them out? How much do people think they need?
I only came to kick some ass...
Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Try an unconventional place, like Menard's, Loew's or Home Depot. I found a stock of paper towels there last week.
