Why did the administration let the maintenance contract with Vyaire run out in the first place? Is it because, like when they disbanded the National Security Council directorate at the White House charged with preparing for when, not if, another pandemic would hit the nation, they didn't consider it a priority, or important? And in December of 2019 when we first learned about the pandemic on the horizon, why, if we didn't have enough ventilators and a significant number of the ones we did have in the national stockpile were non-functional, didn't our "wartime president" immediately do whatever was necessary, like invoke the Defense Production Act, which would allow the administration to prioritize contracts with private manufacturers, like Vyaire, to quickly produce new ventilators and/or repair the ones we had? Why not?
