Yes. People starting the rumors that fauci is undermining trump and the people making the threats are responsible for their actions.Vega wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 10:07 pmPhD says those people are responsible for their actions, and no one else.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 10:01 pm wtf

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
Stupid question/s time from someone who didn't pay attention in biology:
Am I correct to believe that upon awaking every morning I'm in a virus free local environment as far as the surfaces and the air in my home (outside of me possibly being a carrier)?
There are those who carry the virus but are asymptomatic. Does this mean that some will never succumb to the effect of the virus and, if so, how long does the virus stay in the carrier and how long are they considered contagious? Could they live with it forever?

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
good questions.
I was gonna post this in the great outdoors thread, but am I more likely to catch an infection in the wild? Or just from like a random surface at the store?
cuz I'm much more of a germaphobe in more civilized settings. I'll splash around a river and romp around the woods and get covered in mud and dirt and general outdoor messiness, and might not even think to wash my hands before eating my picanic lunch.
but if I grab a doorknob or a shopping cart or a credit card payment interface or some other frequently touched public surface, I freak out and get the feeling I should be washing and scrubbing compulsively.
Have you ever gone into the bathroom to wash your hands, then grab the doorknob on your way out and immediately feel like you have to wash them again? Ugh

Yep.

Re: Where's the petri dish thread?
I always use the paper towel I dried my hands with to open the door, then I toss it in the trash. I'm pretty anal about that too, especially when people walk out of a stall and don't even wash their hands...gross.

For your first question, as long as you or a visitor isn't a carrier, and none of your deliveries or items you bring home have the virus on them, it's pretty safe to assume that your house is virus free. But it can live on surfaces for up to days.
Yes, asymptomatic carriers never develop symptoms, but they are infected. To my knowledge there's no indication that an asymptomatic carrier chronically carries the virus. I think they're not likely contagious with the virus for any longer than people with symptoms.

Karma would be if Jake knocked up Kemp's daughter, she had an abortion - in a different state of course, then Jake got the virus, got a hold of one of Kemp's guns, etc., etc., etc.
Forgetting my fantasy karma, I would settle for Kemp resigning.

My sister-n-law has had Covid-19 for going on 2 weeks now. Her fever came back again yesterday. Gone today. She has to be fever-free for 72 hours. THEN, her family quarantine of 15 days begins... Luckily she's managed to stay out of the hospital, but she says it has been an absolute beating.

With the obvious caveat that no one really knows anything yet, a neurologist friend at a prominent medical center just texted me that he expects this to be a "single-occurrence" event.
