How so?

Not that I disagree or don’t think you have a point. Please just elaborate

I think it is all intentionally being slow-played so that the economy will be in shambles come November.
The entire world is doing this just to spite Trump?

I won’t be getting any checks. There’s an income limit. Anyway, how much good is $1200 going to do when there are no jobs in October?

I put no level of bad faith and malfeasance beyond the lengths Trump is willing to go to stay in office (and out of jail).

Accordingly, I'll believe an election will be held when I see it. And I'll believe the results will be honored when I see it.

gotcha.

and yeah, I fear the same.

and while Trump will stop at no length to stay in office, I wonder how much his supporters/the GOP will go along with it.

and regarding (and out of jail), and with all the outstanding legal issues surrounding Trump, anyone paying attention can't help but wonder what treatment he'll get once he can no longer hide behind the whole "can't prosecute a sitting potus" thing.

It's also the case that the statute of limitations on certain charges would run out during a second term. As I understand it, whether the SoL is tolled during a presidency is not clear one way or the other.

It has to be tolled, right? I can't think of a argument for it not being tolled. I think my ConLaw prof said it was (back in 2013 before any of this was relevant). I think we were using the Lewinsky case talking about presidential powers.

The argument is "because I said so (and the The Federalist-infused federal bench agrees with me)."

Wait, The Federalist, or FedSoc? The Federalist is just a rag. Also, I heard that their misinformation on COVID-19 might be getting them sued.

My bad.

Very much FedSoc. I won't edit, but yes, mistake.

I was about to say, if we have The Federalist picking judges, we are more fucked than I could've imagine. That's like having Raw Story writers picking judges.

It was a shitty situation for all involved.
Seems Modly takes full responsibility for the decision and didn't do this out of spite - and was just following the "rules".
