Please elaborate.
The drug has received an emergency use order. We know it's safe for human consumption (obviously).
How is it going to kill "many people?"
I get that it's stupid for the President to be giving medical advice -- especially THIS president. But I fail to see how it will get people killed.
I'm not a doctor but I play one on a message board.
How do you know what other drugs people are taking and how hydroxychloroquine interacts with them?
Grapefruit is "safe for human consumption". Right? It's harmless and actually good for you.
I take a blood pressure med. I eat grapefruit while on it, it's not "safe". It's NOT good for me.
In fact, while it's unlikely and would obviously be an extreme result, it could kill me.
OK. Just so I understand: the President needs to be more careful about what he says because people who will acquire drugs illegally but who are taking other drugs -- legally, presumably? -- might need to be concerned about drug interactions that they would be unaware of, since they obtained the drug illegally and not from a doctor or a pharmacist. And if they do have interactions and die, that's on POTUS.
Hard for me to give you a response because I admit I am confused as to what you are saying.
If I am understanding you correctly, when someone chooses to take a drug that they have not been forced to take and they have a bad interaction - then I think you and I are in agreement. That's on them.
I'm not blaming the President for anything other than his negligence - in telling people in a time of crisis ("war") who may be desperate, naive, scared, etc., that there is a drug that might protect them and if they take it and "what do you have to lose"?
I'm sorry DC, I feel that's foolish and ignorant. Does it mean I feel it's 100% his fault if someone is dumb? Of course not but I do think he MAY play a role when people who look up to him, trust him, look to him for answers. listen to him for advice, do as he suggests.
