He's right, I can think of several podcasts I follow that Zip Recruiter sponsors.

That death rate is, of course, grossly overstated due to our pathetic testing regime.

Right, and while I agree with the spirit of what he's trying to say. It also won't ever infect 100% of the U.S. population.

Whether financing or otherwise, this would be a terrific time to be in the market for a car.

i’m hoping, with some guilt, that the same will be the case for buying a house in the next 6 months to a year

Interest rates would indicate this might be the case. But I believe Chase just announced that they will require at least a 700 credit score to qualify for a mortgage. Might be a good time for people to start working on their credit.

I don't disagree at all. I was mainly taken with this statistic:

3,138,413 tested = 0.9481%

Less than 1% of our population tested? Really? That's inconceivable. The path forward, extensive testing, was beyond obvious more than two months ago. WTF, do we live in a third world country? What have "they" been doing? I'm embarrassed as an American, and ashamed as a physician. It's like the world pulled our pants down, and is taunting us. I never would have imagined this.

A fish rots from the head. Until there were pictures on the teevee of white people stuffed into hallways in Italian hospitals, this just did not matter to anyone who matters.

As if you needed further evidence for this look at the morans in Michigan fighting for their "RIGHS" - don't know what, maybe the righs to die??

Can you imagine during WWII a bunch of people were running around going "the government is wrong to make us conserve gasoline. We're going to show them tyrants" and then go on to set barrels of gasoline on fire? Who knows maybe this was happening and were'nt reported due to the media being preoccupied with covering the war...........but somehow I doubt it. This is what our grandparents fought for......smh

Our grandparents had these little flags that they displayed in their windows to show how many of their sons were off serving in the military.

Where coronavirus is fueling more and less energy use

Image

Storage units are in and car dealerships are out in our coronavirus-fueled shutdowns.

Driving the news: Those inferences are from new power data tracked by analytics company Innowatts. Since electricity consumption directly correlates to human activity, it offers a window into how businesses are faring as much of the country is locked down.

How it works: The chart shows the percentage change between the first full work week of March to the last full work week of March.

The data looks at electricity consumption of various different establishments on four different power grids covering the Midwest, lower Northwest and mid-Atlantic, Texas and California.
(For the energy wonks among us, we're referring to MISO, PJM, ERCOT and CAISO.)

The intrigue: Many of the changes in electricity consumption are as you would expect — we're drinking more alcohol and hospitals are busy — but a few offer surprising upshots:

People really aren't in the mood to buy new cars, even with gasoline prices dirt cheap.

Storage unit use is surging. One reason is college students leaving en masse around the country, according to Storable, an online marketplace for storage rental units, and an article in the Florida A&M University newspaper.

Hotel power use didn't drop as much as one might expect, though that's likely because they're being repurposed for first responders to stay in, according to Innowatts.

That doesn't matter, silly. People are supposed to live forever.
