I knew this was a PhD thread by the title.
It's getting overused, like it always does: "a fluid situation."

Re: Pandemic phrases you're sick of hearing
I would say social distancing, but I'm sure the alternative phrase would be worse.

The correct term is "physical distancing" because people were get depressed with a lack of social interaction.

The more relevant metric is standing sneeze, it's like standing reach, but instead they measure the distance from the floor to your nostrils.

"pandemic" - I watch a documentary on the Spanish Flu 1918/1919 and it was very much a pandemic. This I'm not sure it really applies (it's more media frenzy for clicks).
Re: Pandemic phrases you're sick of hearing

Re: Pandemic phrases you're sick of hearing
No. The flu has a predictable cycle, various vaccines, most people have some level of immunity/antibodies, and it doesnt ever overwhelm the health facilities. This one is a rare, never seen strain of virus, has exploded quickly, and bodies are piling up in hotel rooms that are converted into patient rooms. This isnt the flu, and it is a pandemic.
