But you can also look at a step back season from Selden ( what the hell happened ) and a meh outing from Oubre as reasons for that.
2016 we could have won the title if it wasn't for the stripes.
yeah, 2016 was a rough call on Devonte. But for real, you blame loosing on the refs? as if Perry shitting himself had nothing to do with it?

Rough calls ( 3 bad calls ) on Vonte.
And no, it's not all on the refs ( Selden went ice cold from 3 ), but lord they took away six points and three fouls on Vonte from us and in a game that was so close, those points were key.

Ok. And Frank dominated at the college level. Perry was...fine. He was fine. He would have got abused on both ends by Shady and Kieff.

I don't think Shady and Kieff were defensive stalwarts.
Perry coulda gotten his points against both of them in a silo.
( 2008's defense in general though would have put Perry through a blender - but also a lot of our other good players too )

(ETA) "he woulda been abused by Shady and Kieff.

and Marcus.

and TRob.

and Darnell.

And Simien.

and Julian.

And Josh Jackson and Svi at the 4.

Even Marcus Garrett is the kind of matchup that would have Perry hanging his head and sulking back down the court. (you wanna talk emotion? When the going got tough, dude's body language was maybe the worst ever).

And heck, considering his struggles to challenge the guy for minutes, Kevin Young? That one's tough.

but hey, I'll concede one. I can definitively say I would take him over Christian Moody.

and howsbout one more! in terms of all time players I love-to-hate, Perry still has nothing on Face Ass.

LOL.
2nd team consensus All American.
Perry just would get abused by all our players.

Somehow he managed almost 17 points a game his senior year, I guess just by luck since he's so soft.
Also body language.

I'd also note that Perry finished 11th in consensus points, so he's as soft of an AA as they can come:

Frank, of course, won every major NPOY award.

I didn't mean to compare him to Frank in anyway.
Just using a quote that you were using to argue against Frank being NPOY in a 'weak' class.
Perry was still a consensus 2nd team All American just as Frank was a consensus NPOY.

One of them swept NPOY awards, so was, categorically, the best player in college basketball that year.

The other made second-team AA because there were two three-way ties for first team.

Again, not saying he's as good as Frank in any way.
Just that you disregarded the fact that players in Frank's class may not have been as good in other classes.
( and I agree with you, I think that argument is poo )

Perry was a consensus 2nd team AA.
That is a fact.
He's better than fine and if someone wants to put him in the top 20 players to play under Self ( lets be honest, it's 7 players per team in that exercise, the walk on thing is dumb ) they'll get no argument from me.

And if you cut Perry out for Kief or Shady, I get it too.

It's the ( dumb ) rules of their draft.
You needed an OAD, a transfer and a walk-on.
And Malik was better than Selby.

Man, what a weak group. Maybe two decent NBA players on that list?
