Not terrible long. Many farmers are currently destroying portions of their crops. Major processing plants (lamb wesston for instance) have cut their orders amd contracts by 25-50%. When the freezer storages run out we will see shortages of some things. We will burn thru the stores before we are able to regrow crops. Once that supply chain is broken there are consequences.

In fact, opening back up may progress that problem as far more stores will be used up as resturants restore their food orders.

Thankfully, the dominant regional grocery chain hereabouts, Publix, is trying to support the local growers by buying their excess and donating it to a nation food bank. Makes it harder for me to hate the fact that they're almost the only game in town, at least in Orlando, and Sarasota.

So let's see here, I can't ride my bike by myself on a bike path by the lake, I can't sit on a bench by myself (let alone even walk by myself) in many parks, but I can golf with another person on a golf course? Hmmm. Alrighty then.

No sir. Management wouldn't identify him/her. I have a bad feeling there have been more than 1 person who have tested positive and more than a handful who are asymptomatic. I doubt I had/have it but I had symptoms. The thing that upsets me is that there is little respect for the fact that we have numerous nurses and doctors living in the building. I got on an elevator yesterday with a woman who had been out for a run and she was still breathing heavily without a mask on and actually coughed once. I was already on the elevator when she got on - on the ground floor. I should have stepped off but I didn't know she was going to be basically panting and would cough. Yes, I was wearing a mask - as I always do when I ride up and down in the elevator.

Depends on what your definition is of safely, but yes testing is obviously important to know who has it at a given point in time (but just because you test negative at 9am today doesn't mean you couldn't test positive the next morning). Originally the entire point of the shutdown was to limit how quickly the virus spread so that hospitals didn't get overwhelmed. It wasn't necessarily to prevent people from getting covid19 (at some point). I stand on the side of this that is glad we are shutdown currently to keep as many people safe and save as many lives as possible....but we obviously can't stay shutdown forever. Vaccine would help, but I'm sure everyone is a little leary of getting some rushed out half assed vaccine also. Treatment helps. We just need time for all of that and I'm not sure some people are willing to wait that long.

Like gutter said the other day, everyone's situation is different. Business owners and in a hurry to open back up....yet I'm in no hurry because I can work from home and still earn a living, my wife can be home with the kids, and my 401k has years to recover (although it's already recouped most of the loss that occurred during the 1st quarter of 2020).....everyone's risk tolerance is a little different. I am doing almost nothing risky. But restaurant owners (for instance) are probably willing to take a little risk if it means getting patrons back in the chairs.

It's inevitable that whenever and however we open back up that cases will increase at least somewhat.

My neighbor is a restaurant manager, so I've talked with him about the discussions within his restaurant about how and when to open back up. They have a large outdoor space and a large dining room, so they could accommodate lots of guests even with spacing. But they're concerned that with all the job losses, people aren't going to be willing to pay the usual restaurant prices for either food or booze, so they're still trying to figure out how to handle re-opening. Some of the lower end takeout restaurants may fare easier.

Just relating some of the questions that industry is likely dealing with that I hadn't really thought much about. Hope you and family continue to stay well.

So, we are getting together with our best friends tomorrow evening around the pool.

10' seperation..2 separate tables. Dinner (separately) at 2 different tables.

We are going to watch a live stream concert of a band we all like (The Spazmatics)....have great conversation at a distance.

Our best friend has MS, so we are all very cognizant of the importance of being safe.

We have done Zoom Happy Hour several times over the past month and a half.

Amazing how much we are looking forward to just being able to see each other in person again.
