Seriously?

You realize the left has a de facto monopoly on humor, right?

The right has...Dennis Miller? And I’m not even sure he’s funny.
I have seen multiple interviews with comedians across the spectrum who complain about how hard it is to come up with jokes that won’t get them blacklisted. If it isn’t lampooning straight, White, Christian, conservative males, it’s not okay. I see the difference from ten years ago when I showed humorous video clips in my classes to today. Ten years ago, kids were laughing and suggesting other ones that I could use; today, they sit in near silence, looking at each other out of the corners of their eyes for some indication that laughing won’t make them guilty of thought crime. It is truly sad.

Cornered market on funny? My rendition of late-night “comedy”:

Trevor Noah: Donald Trump is fat, orange, and stupid.
Jimmy Fallon: Donald Trump is stupid, fat, and orange.
Jimmy Kimmel: Donald Trump is orange, stupid, and fat.
Bill Maher: Donald Trump is a stupid, orange, fat f*ck.

Gold, Jerry; gold, I tell ya!
I'd be curious to see these multiple interviews as well. Got any links?

and what sort of humorous video clips do you show in your classes? They were funny 10 years ago but not today?

compare the tone and temperament on Fox News to, say, NPR.
It irks me to no end, and I am highly offended by the notion that there is an impression that NPR "belongs to a side". Fox clearly does. MSNBC's commentary section clearly has a trend. NPR on the other hand is about as objective as one could get. Just because more people with a liberal point of view listen to NPR does not automatically make the news outlet biased. This is a giant trap that the CONServatives have laid out and one that liberals are only too eager to fall into.

This is in regard to content. However, no one can match Fox News for the tone and temperament - when was the last time any other news outlet was cheerleading an armed mob?

Until you can show me evidence, even on a 20% basis, of armed liberal masses simultaneously assembling in multiple cities (and threatening public health) you can take your "both sides" argument and shove it.

BOTH SIDES DON'T DO IT. PERIOD. END OF ARGUMENT.

zsn - You're adding "armed masses simultaneously assembling in multiple cities (and threatening public health)" to the equation. Which of course is inexcusable but trust me, liberals have done some really shitty things of their own while "protesting".

I was replying to the comment about "being mean"....and both sides are absolutely mean to the other side....and even more so since "dear leader" has been elected.

CNN is almost as bad as FOX these last handful of years.

Mr. Obvious here. CNN and FOX are not simply reporting the news and are catering to their audience/s.
They both suck in terms of "reporting" "news". They both are excellent in what they set out to do.

I think that's a fantastic way to put it....and this is coming from a guy who watches a lot of CNN.

re: both sides being mean, sure. But it just kinda hits different when one side's "meanness" seems to stem from a monocultural identity.

re: CNN almost as bad as Fox, maybe. I don't watch much of either, though no one has ever given me shit for watching CNN like I got for watching Fox - in this very thread!

maybe the bigger difference between CNN and Fox is the way the Fox News kool aid seems to just affect their viewers more profoundly - potus included?

My basic simple analysis in terms of the differences. CNN primarily accuses. Fox primarily defends.

well, that depends.

During this current administration, sure.

But previously, Fox News wasn't defending anyone about their choice of mustard on a burger.

I don't understand how anyone could watch Fox news and not recognize that is simply not news.

I can watch 30minutes and count out a minimum of 5 name calling events.

Name calling should not be part of a "news" broadcast.

turned it on now, just for laughs.

I just looked at Nikki Haley's past tweets. One thing I can and will give her credit for, she really wasn't an asshole on Twitter. Well, other than being proud of Diamond and Silk.
