And while there certainly are other great holidays, and certainly no reason to not binge on tequila and tacos like every single day of your life, today I got to make a holiday of it!

for real any other day I would be stuck within that weird conundrum of pride and shame that otherwise happens when loosing count of taco and tequilas yet again.

But today, happy cinco de mayo!

A good margarita ( I prefer a reposado tequila in it ) with fresh lime is definitely in my top 5 cocktails/mixed drinks.

1. Moscow Mule with gin
2. Margarita
3. Gin and tonic
4. Bloody Mary
5. Mojito

Mojito makes it in b/c it's my go to mixed drink on the beach.

Honorable mention: Old fashioned, Jack and coke, daquiri.

I love a good margarita but I never order one out.
Silver tequila
triple sec
lime juice
tiny amount of simple syrup, maybe.

I wouldn't order one at any bar as their stuff is just a store bought mix.
There's a Latin American BBQ spot, Terlingua, that makes a mean one here.
Mexquisto in Lawrence had a pretty good marg the last time I went.

I'm a big fan of strip mall Mexican. Ergo, I'm a big fan of strip mall Mexican, glow-in-the-dark margs.

I like the craftier ones, too. All margs matter.

I'll drink a corn syrup and Mountain Dew food coloring marg if someone serves it to me, but won't order it intentionally. Or rather, will only order it if it's a good special. Happy Hour 1 gallon fishbowl margs woo!

fresh ingredients make a big difference.

I managed the kitchen at a Mexican restaurant in Larryville. We had our margs on tap. They were mixed in a 30 gallon trash can (it was dedicated to margs and never used for anything else). They would dump cases and cases of tequila and triple sec into the trash can. Then they would fill up the old school soda syrup containers. Needless to say, it got rather pungent in the small back bar. When ever a server showed up hungover, they were are marg duty. Cured that pretty quick. I saw more than 1 run to the bathroom in the middle of mixing them up.

I meant just at any bar.
Like I walk into a place like Louises Downtown, I’m not ordering a margarita.

Last time I was at Louises, it was a 3.2 beer bar. No booze.

I’ll just say that the most overrated drink of all time is a Bloody Mary.

Spaghetti sauce isn’t a cocktail mixer.

Spicy V8
Worcestershire
Lime juice
Tabasco
Black pepper
Horseradish
Celery salt
Olives
Tito’s

The Roost makes a good bloody.
( and just generally a good brunch )

And I try to get a day drink at Louises everytime I visit for old times sake.

Agree for sure. Would much rather have a screwdriver or salty dog.

My go-to summer afternoon cocktail is vodka, grapejuice and club soda, in a tall glass. The soda cuts down on the grapefruit bitterness a bit, and gives it a little more of a refreshing feel.

Other than things like bourbon neat, I don't like drinks in rocks glasses. Too easy to have ten of them.

was “forced” into a shot of peanut butter whiskey a couple nights ago at our neighbor’s

purist arguments aside, that shit was dangerously good

it’s also apparently completely sold out in the state. neighbors drove to fucking wyoming to get it
