Meh. Feeling like it and doing it are two very different things. And I probably overstate my animosity toward him.

He reminds me of an attorney friend I have. Ultra-liberal, sandal-wearing, full of high ideals, lots of money and lots of ideas about how we all should live our lives. We get along great as long as we don't talk about politics.

He just can't comprehend that not everyone has vacation homes and full-funded IRA's or who work three jobs just to afford one house that's nowhere near as nice as his, much less how someone in that situation wouldn't be thrilled to death to pay more taxes or agree to economic policies that might cost them one of their jobs.

He lives on a large corner lot in a gated community, but can't for the life of him figure out why others wouldn't want low income housing built across the street from their homes and why they would worry about their property value being driven down.

He is genuinely nice and well-intentioned, but he can't think on a practical level because he has never suffered, been lonely, wondered how he would pay his bills, or anything of that sort. Life has been easy, so he assumes all of life's answers are easy.
