For others its reasonable to begin resuming life in some form of new normal because they're healthy enough that they'll likely survive covid19 if they get it. This category should absolutely still be cautious and take measures to help prevent the spread.
Everyone has different risk factors and risk tolerance. Everyone has to weigh their personal situation (health and financial).
I am being overly cautious...but I'm also aware that everything can't stay shutdown for the next 6months+. Eventually there will be massive business closures (its already happening). Eventually we will run out of food supply if enough people aren't working. There just isn't a 1 size fits all solution.

So what is the maximum amount of yachts or vacation homes a person should be allowed to own?jeepinjayhawk wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 2:05 pmHey, wouldn't it be cool if, somehow, there were tax dollars available for these scenarios....and not being used to buy a 3rd yacht or a 5th vacation home?HouseDivided wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 1:44 pmThat is essentially what I am saying. Maybe it is just how your statement is worded that makes me roll my eyes...because I'm all for the super rich paying their fair share of taxes (or even a little more than their fair share)...i don't like the idea of the government confiscation of assets when someone is deemed to have "too much" of something.
(None of that meant in a smart ass way directed towards you)

Despite the fact that HD has been in the past, from my opinion, borderline racist ( and yea, this is apt, and of course, subjective ) and sexist, he’s been much better lately to understanding another side ( though with disagreements ) and responding well to an onslaught of attacks with non attacks.
Now there might be some people who think that because I’m saying this, that I’m defending HD or siding with him, but then maybe they could just read this post again, and read that, yes, all of these things ( HD being a better poster than before ) are correct.

99–this is what will confront us all, fists shaking at socialism or not. I hope all turns out well for your family. This thing is now at the highest reaches of the White House. So dismal was their understanding and so damaging their messaging that we all must now brace for impact.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
I think you've hit on it exactly, MJL. If you're a 65 year old with a 30 year old daughter who gets a divorce and comes home and now has been called back to a job at a hotel, how do you stay appropriately--according to Psych--locked away. Or if you're 50 and have underlying conditions and are sheltering at a 2nd home so your 20 something kids can live in your regular home, what do you do when your 80+ mother has a leak that destroys her kitchen and you have to go home to be exposed to your kids, while helping repair her house? Lots of situations that aren't as simple as some want us to believe.Mjl wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 8:35 amCommon sense is a term used by people either stupid or mentally lazy who can't justify things.HouseDivided wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 1:10 amPeople who are worried about their health should stay home, not those who are healthy. So everyone those people interact with also need to stay home. And everyone those people interact with. And everyone those people interact with.

A few days before my kid's family got tested, they baked some cookies and shared them with their neighbors. She called them first thing yesterday to let them know. Their response? "Thanks for the murder cookies."

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
oh jeez.
I finally ate some guac prepared by someone else the other day, after almost 2 months of otherwise only eating food prepared by myself. It's crazy how many people are unable, or just unwilling, to cook their own food.
Your kid's instance is even more of a bummer, cuz it was just a kind neighborly gesture.

Terrible response to your family's kind gesture, 99. Some people are jerks.

My automatic response just might have been - "DAMN, they didn't work"!
I would like to say it's unbelievable how insensitive and ignorant people can be - but it's extremely believable.

Wrong! It was obviously a malicious attempt to inconsiderately infect everyone around them. If everyone would just stay locked in their homes until, say, mid-November, this would all be over with.ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 11:16 amoh jeez.
