That's why it's best to save the hot-take tweets.
I honestly don't believe, when most people stop and think about it, that the ol' "well I saw this guy trespassin', so I chased him down and shot him dead" position is a good one.

Was that even him? It's like 6 seconds of footage, what else is on the tape and why isn't that shown? Me thinks cuz there's nuttin there.

I think they've admitted it was him. He looks around and then leaves from what I've read.
Why the video matters at all is beyond me. There are very few reasons why I think citizens should take matters into their own hands resulting in the death of a person.

He is, obviously, black. Does anything else matter?

I have strolled through homes being built, out of curiosity. I guess I should be thankful I wasn't murdered for it

We were the 11th home finished in a development of 70 some houses in Orlando back in 2012. The development wasn't finished until ~ 2 years after we moved in. If anyone gives you an over/under offer that I walked through no less than 75% of those homes while they were being built and lived to tell about it, take the over. Because

oh man. In high school, as development in Olathe boomed, I can't tell you how many under-construction homes my girlfriend and I snuck into for a place to give each other handjobs lol

No doubt. Sorry if that came across as if I was implying it made any difference if it was him or not. It doesn't.Feral wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 10:40 amYes.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 6:35 pmDidn't his attorney say it was him?jeepinjayhawk wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 6:24 pm

He could have walked in, poured gas everywhere, lit a match, and burned it to the ground...and it still wouldn't make what the McMichaels did even anywhere close to acceptable.
White people often mention how black on black crime needs to be called out....well, white people also need to call this shit out and hold our race accountable for profiling and murdering people of color in situations like this. Doesn't matter what the guy did prior. Nobody has (or should have) the privilege of Judge jury and executioner except in very rare instances...this being nowhere near 1 of those instances.

That read a bit like you were giving your GF handjobs...but then I saw fingerblasting...ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 10:47 am oh man. Re: Ahmaud Arbery
My neighbors and I walked through a house being built in our neighborhood just last week. The guys have gone dumpster diving for wood several times over there.

I’m doing my best to stay out of this topic, but holy shit... Some people I know are making it too difficult.

All other things aside. Black, white, Hispanic, native, orange, blue, purple. Heres a fun PSA.
People should really stay out of jobsites. Theres a lot of liability issues with that. Additionally, and Im not sure about residential construction, but we usually have a wood specific dumpster. But, please stay out of it, its not your material and usually the owner or the crew want any usable or burnable lumber. IF you ask about it we are fairly likely to give you some but please also stay out of the dumpsters.

I don't control what my male neighbors do, but the "crew wants usable or burnable lumber?" So, the undocumented laborers are going to take the lumber back to their trailers to build small unpermitted houses on someone's lot where they live, so they can house more families than are legal on the lot? Yeah, I'd be real upset if my neighbor deprived them of that lumber.
And burnable--did you really say that? There are 30 foundations in my community where there were houses just a few days ago until a wildfire burned them completely down to the foundation, because someone was illegally burning. Since it's actually illegal to burn in my country now.

I did not realize that scoping out residential construction sites was such a prevalent thing.
I might have to go check some out now.

Jesus. Back to their trailers? Really? A lot of these guys are making $45 + an hour. Theyre not living in trailers. They use the lumber to build chicken coops and treehouses for their children. Thw contractor paid for the lumber you didnt, neither did your neighborsseahawk wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 9:06 am I don't control what my male neighbors do, but the "crew wants usable or burnable lumber?" And yes, burnable. Its all kiln dried doug fir. A lot of people burn wood to heat their houses. Scrap doug fir is a perfectly acceptable fuel.
Sorry reality doesnt fit your narrative.
