I would suspect that KU's lawyers, and Louisville's and so on and so forth, are watching the NCAA like a hawk on this stuff.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 10:35 amIf campuses aren't allowing students, where do the players stay, practice, train, play, etc....

Considering he doesn't know how to post a picture or a link, it's amazing that leawood managed to hack pdub's account.

With what money they are currently allowed to receive?pdub wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 10:53 amThe players are paying for it.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 10:46 amThe guy who is as anti-pay the players as they come is suggesting they live off campus to play their sports for free. Who's paying for those houses/apartments all these players are living in, you know, since they don't receive any compensation?
There should be a minimum salary each player gets, adjusted every season by the NCAA.
What does a campus have anything to do with college athletics?
Who would pay this salary? Athletic departments would be in the red faster than you can type a reply if they were responsible for "player salaries".
The answer lies within your question.
Re: F the NCAA
He's being sarcastic.
Re: F the NCAA
They receive money from the league, or the NCAA.
NCAA negotiates with the players union and the general managers of each college to set the salary of each team - they'll set the terms of the agreement for a period of time and renew it/get back to the table when that starts to expire.
Listen, now we get just great basketball, Sprite commercials, without the bullshit, like graduating and seniors. Gross, amiright?

Re: F the NCAA
Think about this, why even have four year restrictions?
These guys could play their entire careers at the KC Phogushers - just have them sign another contract.
And if we got concerned about imbalance, we could institute some sort of draft after the NCAA tourney.
BWW Chad would eat that shit up.

The more we remove KU from KU basketball the better.
I know if my connection to the team is severed my interest will grow.

Re: F the NCAA
What do we think the minimum salary should be per player to start the season?
Like 100k?
Dudes like Wiggins could probably get 1.5 million or so. And now he doesn't need to go to class at all or step foot on campus - just fucking ball, you know?

I don't like the sound of a draft. That limits a players earnings and where they can go thus inhibiting their ability to negotiate.pdub wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 11:54 am Think about this, why even have four year restrictions?

Any sport that would have a draft is exploiting its players. It's pretty much indentured servitude.

All along what you've actually been interested in is Andrew Wiggins signing a fat 10 year contract so you can adorn yourself in WiggsNCAA2020Kicks and watch as he rattles those rims at Cerner Phogusher Arena®.

No minimums, why worry about anyone but the elite 5* recruits they're the only ones who matter.

Re: F the NCAA
Well, the owners of the new teams ( lol universities, who even thought that could be a good model ) can work with the players and the NCAA and figure something out. Maybe it's a twitter poll sponsored by Wendy's and each fanbase gets to raise enough money to get the players they want. Sky is the limit here once this idiotic idea of amatuerism ( racism amiright ) is burned to the ground.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 11:59 amI don't like the sound of a draft. What might be cool is each team is run by their most successful booster.
Like we could be called the KCBoothushers - I don't even know what Phog refers to, it doesn't matter anyways, whatever it was, that stuff is for wikipedia.
A lot of 5 stars might go to Phil Knight but at least we don't have to worry about Pickens stealing some of the local talent.

Re: F the NCAA
I'm just glad it gets rid of the intrinsic cost and burden of free college. It has been a huge setback for, predominately black men, to be have the choice to be forced to go to college for free against their will even though they could leave at any time or choose not to go in the first place.

Re: F the NCAA
I think the problem is college athletes really don't have a choice.
It's college or nothing really - there is simply nothing else out there that a young man ( and moreso, black man ) can do but just take it and get hundreds of thousands of dollars in FAKE compensation.
And now that problem is solved.
Finally Bud Light box seats while seeing Kelly Oubre sit out half the season because his agent told him he was playing hard ball.

Hey as long as no one gets a chance to earn a degree outta the deal. That's not why ANY of them go to college.pdub wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 12:10 pm I think the problem is college athletes really don't have a choice.

LOL, degrees.
Well, maybe the Zach Peters kinda guys want degrees, you know, only white guys from wealthy families, but if you want to watch that kinda basketball, stick to high school sports, or maybe middle school.

Re: F the NCAA
No I want to watch the second best tier of basketball talent.
I've been wanting to watch real minor league basketball, but I've settled for college hoops in spite of the fact my alma mater is good at it, and in spite of the rivalries and traditions intrinsic to the institutions.
That stuff always interfered with my desire to watch the almost-good-enough-to-be-in-the-nba players play basketball for money.
