Do you think the previous president did a better or worse job than this current president at trying to address and fix this sickness?
You mean the president whose Attorney General called Americans cowards when it comes to race?
Please forgive my ignorance.
So, Do you think Obama did a better or worse job than Trump "at trying to address and fix this sickness"?
I think the question: A.) misinterprets the role of the presidency in a general sense; and B.) misinterprets the role each of these two presidents intended to play in a specific sense.

Only you're not as smart as Illy.

Sometimes I imagine DC as Socrates.
But when he gets home, he leans back, pours a glass of wine, and puts on his MAGA hat.

For the most part we are.
No. We're delusional, not cowardly.

I mean...except that you can speak for yourself.
Let me give you a specific example that I mentioned here last summer.

Most years, I travel to our family farm in a small town in KS of less than 1,000 people on the 4th of July to visit family and enjoy the holiday. One of the events is a parade, where the locals decorate their old cars, tractors, ATVs, etc...

Last year there was a giant SUV in the parade flying a huge confederate flag out of it's tailgate. This was the first time that I had ever seen that. The man in the truck was leaning against it as everyone walked past to find seats and looked at every passerby with a look that seemed to dare us to say aything about it. To my knowledge, everyone just walked past it and no one said a word, including myself.

My personal decision to ignore it so I could avoid a confrontation was an example of cowardice, not of delusion. I freely admit it.

We all hear comments, we all hear jokes, we all see things, and too often we just walk past them. That's cowardice. Even if it's the safest decision to make for ourselves personally, it ignores the problem and prevents progress.

I made myself perfectly clear.

It is not the president's job to "heal" sickness. Moreover, neither Obama nor Trump tried to do so.

I can't help that some people here are unfamiliar with plain English.

Thank you for your response.
My uneducated belief is that it's not the Presidents role to "fix" the "sickness" but to at least acknowledge that it exists and that he/she has a desire for our country to be UNITED more so than divided.
I'll let others decide if they feel Obama or Trump have been better in that regard.
I'm well aware that many people felt Obama did more to divide the country than unite it.
I'm not going to choose to argue with those who do.

Dude, the country has been divided for a good while. Since before trump. Since before obama.

The “uniting this country” ship has long sailed.

You're the worst. Just the fucking worst.

This is what's called "mirror-imaging." You, in your self-absorption, attribute your internal dialogue to everyone else around you. Because you think "x" and because you see yourself as a reasonable person, you think all reasonable people also think "x." This is narcissism defined.

Guess what? The only person you know was a coward in the Confederate flag incident is twocoach. The rest is your attempt to impose your own cowardice on everyone else.

I do NOT think he did so intentionally.
