So all 30 teams playing in Arizona at the Diamondbacks park?
What would the schedule be like? 2 games a day? 3?
Then you'd have what i'd guess to be a very long break between your next game so you could conceivably just run with 2 starting pitchers if you really wanted to.

Re: Baseball
MLB needs to come to terms with a 58 game schedule with regular playoffs or an 87 game schedule with only a World Series for a playoff.
And both of those scenarios are still somewhat optimistic

Re: Baseball
Out of curiosity, where did 87 come from?
Generally, I'm good with something starting August 1 and concluding, with a neutral-site postseason if necessary, around Thanksgiving.

Re: Baseball
No concrete plan, just simple math of playing each team 3 times. Should have said 87ish games. Maybe 84
We think alike on start date. 8/1 seems the most likely.
Re: Baseball
Ah gotcha. I was running different scenarios like playing everyone in your division 12 times, and the other league teams 6 times, but that already gets you over 100.

Got a kick out of number one's ( Pedro ) quote:
1. Pedro Martinez, 1999 Red Sox (23-4, 2.07 ERA, 213⅓ IP, 313 K's)
At Pedro's peak, it felt like what he did was impossible. How could one pitcher be so much better than everyone else? The No. 2 pitcher in ERA in the AL in 1999? David Cone at 3.44. Pedro averaged 13.2 K's per nine -- almost five K's per nine better than Chuck Finley, the No. 2 guy. It was absurd how good he was. It was a miracle.
"The plate," Pedro told Sports Illustrated the following spring, "it looks so close. There are days when I first get out to the mound and it feels just like this, like the plate is closer than it's supposed to be. Then I know right away. It's over. You are fucked. Fucked."

Re: Baseball
He wasn't wrong. The late 90s and early 2000s were such an awesome time for pitching. Pedro, Maddux, Clemens, Johnson. Four of the very best to do it, all at the height of their powers.pdub wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 11:43 am Not a single Royal - but can you blame em?

Re: Baseball
Ah steroids. The great equalizer. Pitchers more powerful and batters faster through the zone.

Pedro always my favorite of that era. Johnson 2nd.

And then there is National League feaster and all-around horse's ass Schilling.
Re: Baseball
It's a sign of what a ludicrous time it was for pitching that Kevin Brown, who was goddamned ridiculous for a while there, didn't even get a sniff in HoF consideration. Of course, he was universally reviled.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 12:28 pm And then there is National League feaster and all-around horse's ass Schilling.
Re: Baseball
Pedro from an ‘early days’ of fantasy standpoint was outstanding. Same with Johnson. But...Cascadia wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 12:09 pmWe agree hereCrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 12:07 pm Pedro always my favorite of that era. Johnson 2nd.

Do you all forget Maddux? (There are others, but he’s the most egregiously overlooked of era I believe).
Re: Baseball
Y’all did say favorite, though, and I understand those choices. Pedro was such a bitch to me, but I had him as my keeper for several years.

Snell’s comments yesterday will certainly generate debate.
On the surface, it’s not going to go over well with many people while so many people are not able to work right now.
My first thought is that it’s interesting that the NFL owners 11th houred a 10 year labor deal that is gonna SUCK for the majority of the player, and most of the media supported this....meanwhile, no mention of this agreement being beneficial or not to the players has been uttered on what I’m watching.
Seems off.

Just like the NCAA has been (until recently), it's comical how much better the owners are at this than the players.Gqcolorado wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 7:40 am Snell’s comments yesterday will certainly generate debate.

Re: Baseball
Between (a) a (for-now) shortened draft, (b) killing off minor league baseball and (c) what is sure to be sharp decline in college baseball, MLB sure seems intent on driving kids away from playing baseball.

Baseball can never stay out of its own way.
