if it weren’t for the fires, it’d be great

Do you get a monsoon season in Utah at all?

A few years back we had a super dry spring. It was looking like summer was toast, and a fire ban was enacted at the end of June.

But sure enough, July 1 rolls around, the clockwork afternoon storms start rolling in, and the ban was lifted.

We're experiencing some pretty swampy conditions here in Chicago. Basement flooding season. And the lagoons are all over-running the banks. The grass is a deep green, but man, am I sick of hearing the rain.

Illini, chikn, and Mjl - I didn't realize how freaking bad it was yesterday.
Friends posting some crazy photos. 6+ inches of rain in the northern suburbs.
People telling me it's the worst they have ever seen.
Chicago river reversed, "locks" opened in Wilmette, raw sewage released in to the lake (Michigan).
Highways closed.
Riverwalk flooded.
Lower Wacker flooded to the point where Fire Department workers had to use rafts to rescue the homeless.
Willis Tower lost all power.

Gorgeous summer weather up here, when it’s otherwise usually still late winter.

Record highs yesterday.
