Duke just vaporized the team many stupidly picked to win the national title. Turns out that mediocre UK freshmen return to be mediocre sophomores. Duke will make a lot of teams look bad this year but UK most definitely isn't a top ten team.

But UK has always relied on having the better athletes on the floor instead of the better basketball team on the floor. Cal is a great recruiter. He is a so-so X's&O's bench coach. His offense (Dribble/Drive) is a simple AAU All-Star team offense. Nothing fancy He always played man-to-man deffense with the best athletes on floor. They didn't to be that good to overpower their typical opponent Last night, Duke show Cal's weaknesses more than his team's weaknesses.

A few more years is all it should take. We've steadily been chopping away at their lead....if they lose 1st round of conference tourney and 1st round of ncaa tournament then we could nearly catch them this year if we make deep runs in both post season tourneys.

They're just preparing themselves to lose the top spot.

I think it's important....I understand that some schools have played significantly more games than others, but that doesn't make the all time wins list irrelevant. It doesn't mean the team with the most all time wins is "the best program of all time", but it's certainly worth being proud of.

It's in no way an "overstated stat" and it is important.
Meanwhile, most all time wins or not, many if not most impartial people will tell you Kentucky Basketball history > Kansas Basketball history.
Win % and National Championships being major factors.
Big fucking deal.

If he's a "not-so-good" bench coach then there are a lot of coaches that fit into that category. He's not elite like Self K or Izzo, but he's far from the bottom of the barrel. You don't win at the level he's won simply by recruiting and then sitting there doing nothing. Not elite, but definitely better than "not-so-good".

I'd put Shaka in the not-so-good territory though!

(I know some will want to call me a Cal fan for saying that, but oh well)
