Eh, it's your President who is forgetting the rights of sovereign states to decide what is best for themselves and threatening to force states to open churches immediately, whether those states and local communities feel that it is what's best for them or not.
It's like you've argued yourself in such a circle that you're now arguing against yourself.
Talk about arguing against yourself in circles. You would be the expert on that.

So, you're saying she DOESN'T look like an obese black man dressed as a woman?
I'm sure you were equally outraged when Grimace Pelosi told reporters that DJT was "morbidly obese," right? 'Cause it's never okay to state the obvious if it's not nice.

I will have to respectfully disagree about golf being more dangerous than anything inside or anything that required standing in lines near other people. Golf, when done while social/physically distancing is safer than just about any activity I can think of, and equally as safe as walking on the lakefront or walking down a sidewalk.Grandma wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 7:27 amPeople standing in any lines - short, medium, long,IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 2:58 amPeople standing in long lines of 100+ for an hour + to buy weed is significantly less safe than playing golf outside. I don't have an issue with weed stores and liquor stores being open, but some of what was chosen to remain open had nothing to do with what was "safe", which is stupid if stuff is being closed down for our "safety".Mjl wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 9:29 pm
That's worse than Trump downplaying it and saying the states should be responsible for themselves while calling this a war?
Weed and alcohol are things that keep people happy when bored at home, and they don't require prolonged contact with people to purchase. It would be monumentally stupid to disallow those.
Pritzker followed Trump's guidelines by enacting the stay at home, and has a detailed plan in which different parts of the state can open things at different times based on the numbers.
How the hell is that worse.
for any period of time - 30 seconds, 10 minutes, an hour, 7 hours,
to buy anything - weed, paper clips, butt plugs,
is probably just as safe if not more safe if they are "social/physical distancing" and wearing masks (which they are/were required to do) than someone playing golf - in any capacity.
So your only point has kind of been "de-bunked".
.
The restrictions mean no riding in carts. And currently mean 2 people maximum per group. We stay away from each other. Pay over the phone (although I dont since I'm a member where I typically play). Its the exact same as walking thru a neighborhood except we're carrying golf clubs and hitting golf balls.
Re: Dumbfuck in charge
the weed dispenaries in my area have lines that extend from outside into a lobby area. And that is before they even check your ID and let you thru the locked doors to buy stuff....and it was like that pre pandemic also. Maybe the Chicago area dispensaries are bigger so they allow for more spacing, but the 3 within driving distance of me are not very big....and small liquor stores or cigarette stores are not making people wait outside. You can walk right in like normal.Mjl wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 8:51 amBut everyone in line is outside and distanced six feet apart and wearing masks. Is that really a risk? Or have you seen weed stores not abiding by those rules?IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 2:58 amPeople standing in long lines of 100+ for an hour + to buy weed is significantly less safe than playing golf outside. First off, I have no problem with you or anyone else golfing - if done safely.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 5:19 pmI will have to respectfully disagree about golf being more dangerous than anything inside or anything that required standing in lines near other people. Just as I have no problem with ANY business being "open" if it's done safely.
There is a huge difference between standing in a line right next to people with no one wearing a mask and people standing in a line 6 or more feet apart where people are wearing masks.
I've been told for the most part - most places have requirements.
Problem is people don't respect "requirements".
I don't dispute that YOU are a "safe" golfer. Again, the problem is other people are not.
You say Golf "when done"..... What about when NOT done?
You can tell me that every golfer in the state of Illinois "socially/physically" distances themselves and I am going to tell you you're out of your mind if you truly believe that.
As far as the golf restrictions you mention, like I said, I don't believe everyone adheres to them and it seems those regulations pretty much go right out the door in 5 days. I realize we need to get back to "normal", and I realize people are anxious to ween back to "normal" more quickly than slowly, but I'll go ahead and admit I feel the new "restrictions" are a head scratcher. Not a whole lot of rhyme or reason to me.
May 24 Update
Beginning May 29, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity's updated Phase 3 Golf Operational Restrictions will go into effect. CLICK HERE to view the updated restrictions, which include the following modifications to the original guidelines:
Players may be grouped in foursomes
Tee times must be spaced a minimum of 10 minutes apart
Golf carts are permitted. Individuals not members of the same household shall use individual carts. Golf courses shall sanitize each cart after each use.
Driving ranges, practice ranges, chipping greens, and putting greens are permitted with 50% capacity.
Individual caddies are prohibited. One forecaddie per group is permitted to perform contactless activities, such as provide yardage, read greens, locate golf balls, and repair divots and ball marks. The forecaddie shall not carry golf bags, ride in golf carts, touch golf clubs/balls, rake sand traps or remove pins. The golf club must have updated parental consent for all forecaddies under 18. Caddies shall not congregate in groups larger than 10.

Not surprising to me that he wished Americans a "HAPPY" Memorial Day this morning.
No need for me to make a big deal out of that but felt it should be noted.
What is surprising is that tweet came AFTER he felt the need to lie to Americans (and the world) and claim it was HE who "insisted" on Charlotte hosting the Republican National Convention.
He also stated the Governor is in shutdown "mood". I assume he meant mode but who knows with Trump.
I guess mood works took.
As usual, he has HIS priorities in order this morning - and not our country's.

Ah, thank you. I would personally prefer that Trump STFU and let states and local communities make their own decisions about what opens and doesnt open. He should be gathering exerts and allowing those experts to share what they have found. He should be coordinating federal government agencies to manage what they are doing at the federal level.
Instead we have this.

States’ rights first and foremost, only to be superseded by Federal in times of war and emergency.

Giving states power in lieu of relying on federal decisions is not racist. Before you "bless your heart" us and ramble on about southern strategy realize these are totally seperate discussions, please get out of your bubble.
