ousdahl wrote: Tue Jun 09, 2020 11:45 am can we get a thread going for the new greatest generation?

We’ve had to endure 2 (3?) major recessions, a global pandemic, race roits that will hopefully result in unprecedented advances for civil rights and equality, and we haven’t even hit our forties yet.
I hate race roits.

Self proclaiming themselves as the next greatest generation is the most millenial thing ever

Does anyone claim self independent greatness while at the same time having a hand out for participation awards and government money more than millenials?

Im not that far away from being a millenial but my god theres a big shift in just a few years. Course ive always been called an old soul and always hung around people older than me, ever since i was a kid.

Millenials were handed participation awards by boomers and gen x.

Obviously, every generation has their positives and negatives.

Every generation thinks they're pretty great.

Except gen x. The black people made hip hop and the rest of it is awful.

I dont claim x to be a terrific generation. But theyre tougher (at least mentally) than millenials. X had grandparents that went through the depression and the war and were taught hard lessons. Millenials are a product of sustained abundance and success. It may not be entirely their fault that theyre pussies, but nonetheless.....

What's commonly viewed as a "millennial" is really two generations. There is a vast difference between people who had high speed internet, and internet on cell phones, before going to college, and the generation prior.

Absolutely. The former half looks way more like Gen X and the latter like Gen Z.

If you remember what you were doing when 9/11 happen should maybe be where the split is.

Sophomore year of HS, first hour Spanish class.

The biology teacher from across the hall came in and said, “the story of the year is happening. A plane ran into one of the twin towers, and during all the confusion, another plane hit the other one.” Didn’t even know what it was about yet.

Most teachers were like, nbd we need to focus on the daily lesson, but 2nd and 5th hour teachers just brought TVs into the classroom so we could watch news updates.

As for me, I was mostly still thinking about the major boob action I just experienced on the ferris wheel at the Old Settlers festival in Olathe that weekend before.

I was parking my car in Lot 90 bout to make the walk up to campus for 3 hours of Color class when I heard someone on 96.5 the Buzz ( RIP KLZR ) trying to report what was happening.

Hung a flag off our deck in Aspen West b/c America.

After thinking about this more, I really wouldn’t hesitate to declare our generation the greatest if we do achieve some unprecedented advances in civil rights and equality.

That, and we legalized weed.
